Hi! My name is Winco. Just bought first MTB. GT Av1.0. Nice 'n shiny! Needs to get dirty. Have been riding and practising on-road but would now like to get stuck into some offroad riding. Need someone to go riding with to show me the ropes/where to go on Manly Dam, Terry Hills, etc. Anybody interested or can I join up with anyone going riding this weekend locally.

Thanks - Winco

I would suggest against Manly Dam as your first off road ride.

Terrey Hills is a great start though. Unfortunately there seem to be no slow rides this weekend but keep an eye out. Paul has a beginner's ride later this month I believe.

happy to go for a ride with you if you like, as long as you aren't a speed freak since i am getting over my cold - however, if you are doing road riding you should be fine for one of the weekend posted rides
let me know, i am happy either way...

Great!

Sent you a private message with contact details included.

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail

track to start on is Lane Cove National park got a bit of everything without busting ya gut.
Entrance is at southern end of Kissing Point Rd Turramurra, past sports fields.
I'm at Castlecrag & it probably takes 30 - 40mins (by car) to get there.

i have never ridden there and don't much like the idea of getting lost!!
maybe local for this one - local to me so i know the way that is!!!

anyone interested in a ride out to the look out at long track on sunday? Its a fairly simple ride, nothing too technical and its reasonably dry at the moment. If its your first ride on the dirt you'll be fine on this one

Hi Martin, hitting up the Terrey hills track sounds good. I am still only a noob so fitness is average, although I lasted on the last Terrey hills ride no problems. As long as u dont mind stopping every now and again I am more than happy to come along

Sorry all, work has had to take front seat this weekend. Part of being self-employed. Trying to get weekends back again. (Remember them?) I'm on for the Terry Hills ride next Sunday morning though if anyone else is interested. First time off road. Average fitness. Steely determination! Should be good. - Winco

Hey Winco,

I just got back into bike riding after about 8yrs and got myself a...GT avalanche 1.0! Nice choice Smiling
I got mine a bit dirty on the oaks trail a few weeks back, but did my first 2 laps of Manly Dam today...just got back and its really dirty now...
I'd agree that for your first time offroad the dam might be a bit much - it gets technical in a few places. I had to remember some old bmx skillZ to get me through some of it. do a few other rides first definitely.
I'd be keen to go for a ride sometime - weekend mornings are the best for me. I'll try to get along to the social ride next Sunday (wife & child permitting...)

See you around,
ProfessorT
