Kowalski Classic 2017
The Ride Canberra site describes the main forest entrance as being the corner of Kowan Road and Sutton Roads. There is a parking area 5km into the forest along Kowan road with gates that may be locked. Call Canberra Connect (13 22 81) for the combinations or ride from Sutton Road for a warm up.
The BentSpoke Kowalski Classic is a one-day showcase of the famous trail network of East Kowen Forest and Sparrow Hill. The event celebrates the achievements of local trail builders Paul Cole, Alan Anderson and the award winning Kowalski Brothers Trailworks (our trail building crew), who together have hand built over 120km of flowing trail in East Kowen (the Kow) & Sparrow Hill (the Bird). The Kowalski Classic is the ultimate single track marathon with three race distances taking in the very best trails in Sparrow Hill and East Kowen.

In for the half kowalski
The Kowalski's aren't releasing the actual course map before the event this year however I compared the course profile they released yesterday with my Strava ride from 2015 (the last time the half kow stayed in Kowen) and it looks like the first 7.5k's, the middle 10k's and the final 10k's (climbing Rolling Thunder, Stairway to Heaven etc) are very similar. Going to be a challenging day
Of course they could be throwing us all a huge furphy!
From a few days ago: http://selfpropelled.com.au/event/kowalski-class... - it heads to the NE first, with plenty of firetrail climbs and transfers to separate the field.
Due to logging already done and compartment closures, the regions east of stairway are mostly closed to riders outside of the event weekend. Makes sense!
