third Sat of the month - 21st Oct is the next volunteer maintenance day at the Dam...PM me if you would like to join in the fun!
Also interested to get rider input on long term planning for this trail...who wants to go first?

whats the chance of a climbing single trail next to Manning road on the run up to the golf course single trail?

footbridge over Wakehurst parkway.

also #protectthepossum!

I've sent a PM too

A few doubles would be nice. OMV has managed to incorporate jumps while still having options for beginner riders.

there's lots of scope to improve the rider experience and a few doubles would be a nice addition. Eye-wink
in the meantime we need to look after what we've got.
we'll be meeting at 8am Sat morning at the tennis courts on Roosevelt Ave in Allambie Heights for a short walk into the trail above the 19th hole
as usual bring a hat, sunscreen and some gardening gloves
hope to see you there

A great one would be to build a nice snaking single track descent down alongside the fire trail to Curl Curl Creek, this avoiding the fire trail and all its associated hazards. Plus making things FAR more interesting.

Unfortunately the head ranger Chris Buckley vetoed it. "Too much maintenance" - as though they were actually doing some.

A decent trail route and design would eliminate most of it. The reason Manly Dam needs so much work is that much of it just follows the fall line instead of routing it along the contours to control water flow- The descent from Allambie is a case in point.

... a nice snaking single track ascent on the other side instead of that bugger of a fire trail hill....

Will have to come and give you a hand next year when I have finalised my relocation to become a true northern beaches mtb'er. I'm going to need to become much more familiar with The Dam Smiling

The IMBA guys had a few good suggestions like that.

Truth be told I don't mind that hill - it's a good test of fitness to see how much I have left when I get to the top. But then I'm a bit weird like that Evil

.. but I seem to recall it being a wear factor on my shoe soles..... Sad

You may notice some small changes on the run down into the 19th hole following some awesome work by our trail crew yesterday
Thanks to our crew for putting in a big effort and those riders with superior trail etiquette who dismounted and walked their bikes through the work site while we were making adjustments to the alignment and some long overdue fixes to drainage issues
Let us know if you approve of the changes on Trailcare's FB page.
Next volunteer day (the last one for this year) will be the 18th November..

Ideas about building new low impact single tracks get dismissed, yet acres and acres of sensitive bushland are getting cleared on a weekly basis everywhere around the northern beaches. Without people just going heading and building things in the past we would have no tracks to ride today. I say build away before it's someones front yard a memory and a story to our kids about how we use to have awesome tracks to ride. Discretion is key they can't handbrake what they don't know about Eye-wink

I am beginning to agree with you.
