Nursing home ridge trail
Anyone know the deal with the Nursing Home Ridge trail, linking Pipeline to Manly Dam?
Lots of "closed to bike" signs due to erosion.
We seem happy to lay bitumen over our bushland for eternity but unhappy to roll a couple of square inches of rubber over it for a few seconds.

I am pretty sure that the trail is shown as part of the Manly Dam loop on the trail map sign in the car park at Manly Vale PS. As such, the trail in question will continue to be part of my extended loop.
I did notice that the areas between the trail in question and Allambie Rd that are very tech appear to have been opened up again recently. About 18 months ago, I had a very lively discussion with a bloke who was supervising some community workers along this trail. He tried to tell me the trail in question was closed to bikes. I made it very clear to him that I did not agree.
Only seen one sign at the y intersection. Not sure where they think the erosion is.
Most of that is fire Trail; to my knowledge they can't ban bikes from fire trails...
I agree that most of the trail is fire trail and therefore we should have access to it. There is a small section that is walking trail and we probably don't but good manners has always done me very well in the past.
I'm dubious about the signage. It does not look like anything that the council would put up. Where is the logo. Looks more like an online sign purchase.
Much of the "erosion" has occurred since the regraded the road in my opinion but it is fairly difficult to erode sandstone slabs.
I did have a look at the map at the school today. This trail is not mentioned in anyway therefore good to go i reckon

I went for a walk this arvo after the rain stopped.
The sign is definitely official. Unfortunately. The threat implied by the words "continued biking at the dam depends on your assistance" gets up my nose I have to say.
Surely not the firetrail section from the cul-de sac, through to the oval? That's been in play since forever. Very unlikely there's erosion issues there too.
Yes, that bit. Ridiculous.
The signs have been changed to "no illegal trail building"
... and the little no bike signs have been removed too.
But the ironic thing is the big dozer at the entrance to the cul-de-sac that has recently cleared a wide swathe along the trail!!

I wonder if those signs are in reference to 'Edward'? But then why not put those signs at the start of the trail, instead of on the fire road...
