Thats a great result! Inspirational!!
(How do you get this info so fast Rob? I can't see results on their website...)
They were posting intermediate results here:
http://24adrenalinlive.blogspot.com/
Also - someone summarised them on MTB-OZ this morning.
dont know the story but Jason English finished his 16 laps before 24hrs were up so he could of gone around again and hence getting 17 laps and a victory?
I know James Williamson done 16 in much less time and obviously could of done another "insurance" lap to secure victory.
Or did you have to finish your last lap by a certain time, ie 1pm and hence Jason Eglish couldnt of done 1 extra lap in 1hr 7 mins and James Williamson knew his times so opted out of the 17th lap.
Just guessing here, but well done the the aussies, shown the world who is best at endurance events
Don
According to one source I read the weather conditions were atrocious and it was an absolute mud bath, so the organisers gave the option of finishing earlier than normal without incurring a DnF.
That said, can't understand why the leaders would have taken such an option unless they were truly stuffed.
Whatever the reason, message this year is clear: Aussies rule over 24 hours!
Under the 24 Hours of Adrenalin rules, you need to finish after 11am and any lap you start between 11am and 12 pm must be finished by 1pm for it to count.
thanks Alchemist, that makes sense.
James williamson's time technicians would of known what lap times Jason English was doing and knew he wouldnt make it back for his 17th lap before 1pm.
