Four lucky scummers.

On my way to site this morning I was traveling through the General Holmes Drive tunnel heading down to Sutherland.
As I was approaching the Cooks River Bridge I noticed a large group of road cyclist, about 40, in the left hand lane up ahead.
To my disbelief, it was like slow motion, one of the rear of the group shot to the right taking out three mates. I think a bike in front braked and he didn’t notice in time.
One guy landed in the middle lane and was just missed by a Ute in front of me, luckily being in a 4WD I was able to see why the Ute turned quickly and was able to stop and put on my hazard lights to warn the other cars behind me.
The guys all got up and some mates helped pick up bikes, bottles and broken bits.
I waited maybe 30 seconds for them to get off the road before I drove off.
Not one wave of thanks or gratitude but I guess by the look of shock on their faces they where just grateful to walk away and not be scraped up.

Someone might argue that not acknowledging someone's help is selfish. But once you have crashed amongst the traffic you are certainly only thinking about yourself and your safety. On a busy road like that, you would just be happy you're stll alive.

There is also the underlying message to all those scummers. Riding on the road is dangerous. Stick to off road, where its nice and safe.
