By unclebullbar - Posted on 25 September 2008

When:
Wednesday, 1 October, 2008 - 09:00
Duration:
2 hours
Come Rain or Shine:
If it's raining, I won't be there.
Ride Database Entry:
Ourimbah State Forest
Meeting Point:

North End of Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. There's a large-ish parking area here, just off the main sealed road. There is also a smaller parking area a little further (400m or so from the road) where the trail splits - this second area is the usual meeting point. If you end up driving up a steep hill you've gone too far.

Red Hill Road, NSW @-33.275884,151.377053
Details:

If you're on Holidays this week, head out to Ourimbah for a few fun laps of the XC Course. The track is in great condition at the moment - even after the rain. Will be a very social pace. The Drop is off-limits sorry.

can I convince any of the downhillers to turn up?

By the way, that's a very negative way to talk about our old friend the big dipper! He's actually a lot easier than he looks.

Sorry to confuse anyone but the Big Dipper/Drop at the start of Jurassic Park has been closed off by the local club. They have put up a lot of tape and several logs to prevent people riding it. The berm section that leads up to it appears to have been destroyed by motorbike riders (Horatio made this inferrence after spotting several motorbike tyre tracks. The berms are now too steep and boggy to get through. The big dipper itself has also been chewed up with several dangerous ruts formed on the 3 lines and the run out is now a bog. If you were to take the really pikey line to the far left, you wouldn't be able to get over the little creek easily as it is also a bog now.
The new line that has been cut around the Drop isn't that bad. It adds a few extra metres to the track and has a fast little downhill section.
BWOAR!

Oh nooooo! That was like the best thing about the dc track aside from roller coaster! What a shame. I wonder if it can be saved one day

Don't worry folks... the dipper bypass is very nice indeed... it's all good so get out and ride it! Smiling

Thanks for a great ride today Leon and Tash. I had a great time and have almost convinced my Wife to come along next time (she just got a bit scared when I told her about that Monitor on the tree). Top riding today Tash - you went so hard and fast that I cracked my frame just trying to keep up! Looking forward to riding with you guys again soon. I need to wait until my bike is repaired, but how does next Friday sound for a spin around Manly Dam?

BWOAR!
