My First 100k event
My plan was not to get the adrenaline get the better of me and never to go full stick. A steady pace was the plan. I started reasonably close to the start line and during the first kilometers people were zooming by me, I managed to not get caught up in their frenzy. That worked as most of them faded pretty quickly after 5 - 10 ks and I started to pass them.
In first transition I felt fine and continued in to the second stage at about the same pace until about 60k where I lost all strength. Between 60 and 70ks I had a severe crisis period. Legs aching, no strenth and the f-ing distance meter on my handlebars sat on 63ks forever. When it finally read 70 thinks lightened up and I felt much better again.
In last transition I felt OK and the first 10ks of the specialized stage went fast. Then from 90 to finish was hard but one just had to keep going.
I think I did it in 6:15 or there abouts. The time is irrelevant, finishing it was a relief.
There is one common denominator in ever race I do: As soon as one hit some fun sections like winding single track or similar there is always someone in Turramurra Cyclery lycra holding everyone up. Is there some conspiracy going on?
