Oxford Falls - Night Ride
Morgan Road, Belrose. At the second 90 degree right hand bend in the road. There's an area just before you can park and a firetrail heading off to the left.
Something different for a night ride - Oxford Falls (we won't be disobeying any signs we see)
Although I have riden Oxford Falls since 1995, I haven't been there since some of the trails have been made off-limits for riding and I'm not too sure what is legal or not. Given this our route will be decided on the night - maybe the fire trail to Narrabeen, maybe Power Lines and Nursey Rythyms, maybe the downhill.
This will be a XC ride and not a huckfest but it is always advisable to wear pads at Oxford Falls, so bring them if you have them.
Oxford Falls is a lot more technical than Terrey Hills so the pace will be slow and the degree of difficulty high, so riders beware.
As there is no pub nearby bring a beer for post ride if you wish.
Were you there and have a story to tell?

I'll bring the first aid kit!
See you there
What a crazy night ride!
Let me know how it goes and we'll have to do it again when I get back!
Have fun!
Loz
... which Bike?
Norco or F A T ????
Bernd
Paul, can I take you up on the offer of a loan of some leg armour please?
I've never ridden the dark side of Forestway...so looking forward to another adventure ride.
I gather a plusher bike is the best for this ride?
Nick.
Nic, I'll bring a spare set of leg pads.
Nic and Bernd, Oxford Falls is not great for super quick XC riding so I would go plusher. Having said that for every downhill there is an uphill. I'm going to bring a hardtail (but that's so I can get off if it get too technical and blame my bike).
DUDE.... give your Yeti some respect!!!
... it will be!!!
Liam, are in for that one?
Bernd
Finally comes out...
on a school night. We'll see.
The sad truth for the Yeti is that the 29er SS is just so much fun to ride and besides I've never ridden it at Oxford Falls so I'm keen to see what it can do.
...didn't you just SELL your Yeti?!!!!
While we're at it maybe we should do Red Hill at night the week after
Was really looking forward to this but Moira has to go to Queensland next week so no night ride for me.
Was notified that I have an appointment to be serenaded by the dulcet tones of the school band.
Thanks for the offer of leg pads Paul.
... we may catch up after all!!!!!!!
BUT:
I found out today!@!#$#@! I have a few meetings in Adelaide that day....
BUT:
I will make sure I fly in befor 6pm and come direct to the action, after a Coopers vintage at the Ale House at Adelaide Airport!!!!
Bernd
so you will be a bit happy when you arrive then? All the more entertainment for us!
and the NORCO has a new Fork ..... ohhh http://nobmob.com/node/7066
seeya there!
Bernd
I filled my nix at the weekend and have nothing clean to wear.
Enjoy..
Bring your knix over to my place, I'll wash, wax and iron them for you while you wait.
Or you could have a sleep over?

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
No thanks.
I'm still dry retching over what you told me on Saturday night about what used to happen on your birthday....
"Used to happen" Pikey don't tell me you didn't get your "special" birthday treat.
So your missus finally knocked it on the head - I bet that didn't go down real well.
... words, Paul!! You know to much....
Bernd
Just got back in the saddle so I will give this one a miss Looking forward to next week's ride if it's something a little easier.... I still have to take it easy.
Hope you have a good ride!!
Don't forget the beer
Well I've never been to Oxford Falls nor do I have an body armer.....what the hell we go for the ride & beer anyway (hope there's a B line).
I'm in the same boat Riz, I'm sure we will manage
... thanks Paul, good ride.
Thanks everyone, gr8t ride, good fun, gr8t company!
Good to see my favourite Aussie Girl friend, I missed you a lot!!
Bernd
all for a fun ride and it was excellent to see you Bernd and THANK YOU SO MUCH PAUL for the lift home, much appreciated! i realised last night how much i have missed riding Oxford Falls... I also learnt last night, thanks to Ben and his over enthusiasm what a difference it makes riding that bloody down hill course on Mildred instead of the Stinky!
Over enthusiasm!? Well it was different riding the DH course on the XC bike I'll admit. But the chicken lines were rideable (just) on the XC bike.
Was a bit scary rolling down this section with the Trance (and no I didn't drop in like Squid in the photo)
Thanks Paul for organising. Sure was more interesting than the standard Terrey Hills firetrail ride.
