When:
Friday, 5 December, 2008 - 17:45
Duration:
2.5 hours
Come Rain or Shine:
If it has rained on this trail today, I won't be there.
Ride Database Entry:
Lane Cove National Park
Meeting Point:

Meet "At the Seat" South End Kissing Point Road. The seat is the picnic seat down in the valley next to the concrete cycleway (near the water crossing). If you can come at a later time then please come along. We often come past the seat so you can join in when we see you.

Details:

Legal track only, avoiding big hills. XC style riding. Friends and I ride here quite a bit, come along and see our preferred route. We take it nice and easy early on. Being mature aged, we like to warm up a bit. Lane Cove holds water after rain, if it has rained during the day it is off. We ride instead on trails where the water bars/drainage are suitably maintained.

Some people park here (Turramurra Side): http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=Australi...

Some people park here (Macquarie Uni Side): http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=Australi...

The concrete cycleway links the two sides.

this will be the first ride with the group so im looking forward to it

cya there

Well typically it is strictly "Ready to Ride", but maybe we should change it to 5:45?

I could find it hard to be ready to ride at 5:30pm too.

Don't forget some water and a spare tube etc.

5:45 now.

hey guys,my girlfriend n i are keen but she's abit of a novice. What are the trails like?shes managed the dam but has to walk some bits

Alysum's picture

no it's not technical at all, it's all fire trails (and some concrete). The only "hard" sections are the very steep trails, love 'em Eye-wink

if at first you don't succeed, try not to look astonished.

We are not going up the very steep part, and it's not all fire trail. We are not going that way. There is some single track that is council controlled and fine to ride, and there is fire trail that has grown back into single track. Its not technical. She should be fine. It's all pretty easy.

It's also a fairly cool place to ride in warm weather as we follow creeks in a gully.

I've never heard of ridable single tracks around the area so I might join you guys to check them out Smiling

i got called to a meeting in newcastle on friday and couldn't make it or contact anyone to inform them.

apologies again.

would be keen to ride this area at some point though.

ok, see you then. My number is in my profile, if you could send me an SMS (if it happens again) it will save the other riders the waiting and wondering.

too smooth!

valierm's picture

but please ignore any drunken text messages sent at 2am in the morning from outside a kebab house - they are meant for my ex life partner who's name was also Noel.

I'll be there this Friday same time. I create the ride if you don't feel up to it. Any registered user can create a ride.
