Hi Bernd,
I'm hoping to get to the Dam around 6:30am, so i'll join you on your 1st lap (which will be my second lap)
See how i feel after a couple of laps - I may continue for a few more.
I'll message you if i'm not at the Lab at 7am.
See you there
.. prob, see u there, I will be there from 6-50am.
Bernd
Sorry I missed you Bernd.
I sms'd you at the top near the 19th hole just before 7am
and was at the lab at 7:03am
I waited round for 5 minutes and then went onto lap two.
I think i passed you after the oval near the bowling club
I managed to hit 2 sub 35minute laps back to back then finished with a cruisey one
Perhaps next time.....
Out of curiosity...
If you were late for the ride you said you were doing with them and then you caught them up I have to really wonder why you didn’t either say hello OR continue the ride with them... but mostly I am shocked you didn’t say gidday..
Shocked that i didn't say gidday????
I sms'd to say i was going to be a couple of minutes late (as I had previously posted), 5-10 minutes before 7am and when i got to the meeting place only 3minutes late and found no-one there called Bernd, I was a little shocked too.
I have never met Bernd personally before. Perhaps i've ridden with him before but i wasn't able to be sure that i'd recognise him.
So i rode past every car at the lab and asked every person that was there if they were Bernd. So i waited 5 or so minutes and checked my phone again. No messages. So i rode to the school and asked the people there if they were bernd. No Germans in sight. So i started a lap asking every person that i passed until i got to the golf course the same question - no one knew Bernd.
I had wasted enough time so i picked up the pace.
The reason why i guessed it was Bernd i passed near the oval, because he was the only one doing a lap at that point that wasn't in a large group. But honestly how was i to know that Bernd had even showed up to the dam.
I did say gidday to a person near the bowling club that i thought (later) was Bernd as i also said a quick hi to everyone that i passed on that lap.
I trust your not shocked anymore Christine. Maybe if people set up a ride and say they'll meet at a certain place they should allow a bit of grace, take their mobiles, tell others what they're wearing etc etc a many number of things that could aid this situation not to happen again. I have learnt a lesson about meeting up with people i've never ridden with before also.
Perhaps your shock could better be described as ignorance of the situation.
... it's all good, for me anyway.
Cam, check your PM.
