CRC sale ending soon
I got an email saying that the 2009 sale is ending soon at CRC and I haven't ordered anything yet! So I was wondering whether anyone is keen to organise a group order to get the free shipping? (total over $545)
I may be able to do it but lets see how much interest is expressed

I wouldn't worry Tom, CRC have a constant sale on, esp. with the pound falling through the floor (yes, even more so than our AUD!).
That said, I need a 34 tooth FSA alloy middle ring as they were out of stock last order I placed. Mail/PM for details if you order.
Cheers!
My work colleague who recently got a huge order (before I met him...) from CRC also told me that they are always on sale so I'm not going to rush quite yet.
I will update this thread whenever I go ahead but probably not before the end of the month - still working out what wheelset I want!

There's only one worth considering from CRC... Mavic 819 on Hope Pro II
You won't need anyone else to get you over $500 if you get a wheelset! That said I may have some goodies I need
What's wrong with the current wheelset on the X1? It shouldn't be that heavy?
Another good value one is the Shimano XT wheelset that Lorrie has. UST compatible and only $500 something? at around 1700g
Yes Rob I've thought about that popular set - but It's a bit more for AM than XC I think (~1900g). That's what you have on your Yeti I think?
I'm also looking at TWE - waiting to hear back from Greg...
Buck> I want to use the current wheelset with slicks commuting. There is nothing wrong with the XM317/DT370 but they are not fantastic either.

Try:
Sun Ringle MTX-33 rims
Sun Ringle Abbah SOS hubs
2.5 Minion and High Roller combo
Thing of beauty. Will it suit?
LOL... let's see how much you like those wheels after pushing them up the hill tomorrow!
FWIW, I'd love a set of I9 wheels but CRC don't sell 'em.
My latest wheelset is this;
Hope pro 2 hubs
Mavic EN521 disc rims
Sapim DB spokes and alloy nipples (32 of them)
I have two of these sets. One on my Reign and one on my Glory, with the appropriate rear hub size for the Glory - a 150mm X 12mm thru axle. I now use a Maxle rear. When I bought that bike it came with a selection of rear dropouts, one of which is for use with a Maxle. Nice.
And get this. On the rear of the Reign I bought the hub listed as '10mm Saint' and with it I use a DT Swiss RWS 10mm thru axle. This set up works a treat and makes the rear of the bike noticeably stiffer, paticularly in tough terrain and when coming into land...
And I like big tyres too, preferably from WTB.
