I competed in my 1st triathlon this morning – 500m swim/20km ride/5km run – in 1:24:14 in Penrith this morning. Very happy with that time for my first one...

Triathlons are a lot of fun and addictive, congratulations on your first one, have you another in the diary yet? I'm guessing it was at the Regatta centre?
Did you feel like your legs were made of rubber once you started the run as mine used to feel like I was going fall over at the start of the run.
Please tell me you didn't have a towel in the transition area Smiling
John.

John - yes, it was at the Regatta Centre. I just took it leg by leg. It took me the first 3-5km to warm my legs up on the cycle leg, but then started overtaking people. My legs felt alright going into the run, apart from my right knee, which was still a bit iffy and required an ice pack after. I did have a towel in the transition area, but hardly used it, as it was so hot (you would know if were at home today).
I wore a tri suit, so only had to change my head and foot gear. Transitions went pretty smooth. YES, once you start, it's very addictive. My next tri is in three weeks - Huskisson - 750m swim - other two are the same. Would like to do Noosa at the end of the year! I think I will stop after Olympic distance, though.

Pikey - no, you are definitely NOT allowed to wear flippers, arm bands, life jacket or a wet suit Smiling Water temp was 27 degrees - YUK!!!!

Bernd - you absolutely should try it. It's an amazing feeling to get over the finish line.

Bikeboy - no worries. I think you'll kick my ass at mtb riding any time Smiling I came in 56th out of 128 and 18th in my age category (30-39). I set myself a finish time of 1:30, so pretty chuffed with coming in under that.
