To: anyone interested in the Highland Fling - full or half fling

Any one keen to go for a ride in Penrose/Wingello state forests sometime soon (in the next few weeks) in preparation for the Fling?

Or do something similar distance (no! not just do 3 laps of Terry Hills)

I am keen

Regards

Tien

I'm very keen on a return to Wingello (this - in the link - is all we managed to find out last time).

FWIW, I think Basin Road is home to Halfway Hill on the Fling, so a venture down there would be good. Also though, out to the real end of Gulp Road to check the view we missed. To do both of those you're going to have to cover a lot of ground!

When did you have in mind?

As long as I am not working I am keen on Wingello...I take it it's a day trip?

The Saturday 9th of September looks good for me too but I’ll have to check the social calendar with she who should be obeyed tomorrow.

Yeah, the 9th could work, but the train would not Eye-wink

Aside from the usual train hastles, it's a very boring 2.5-3km ride from the Wingello to the nearest forest border. Then probably another 2Km to the camp site which is where I think the best meeting place is.

Reckon driving is your best bet - things worked out quiet well at Ourimbah so sure we could figure out some car pooling again?

Sorry, I can't go then - we are working every day now until the end of September which means no day trips...only local rides for me!

Doh! Sorry, but don't think we can commit to Wingello on the 9th. Have an event to attend that evening and don't want to risk getting back home too late in the arvo, or being too buggered (as might be the case).

Looking at the calendar can I propose Sunday 17th instead?

BTW, it's probably not worth the trip unless you're going to to at least 30-40Km (although it's not hard - there's a lot of smooth firetrail there).

How about the 23rd of Sep - i am also keen to change to this date

Full day 9th Sept no good for me either, actually with the lack of comments I forgot about it.

23rd Sept is out for me also (wife’s 40th- what’s the chance of her not missing me at her party?)

Come on Greg, this is the perfect chance to miss it! Eye-wink
