I'm a maybe. Lets see how the weather goes
Edit: I just realised this isn't next Wednesday so I guess it is a bit early talking about the weather
Oh Dear Christine, Is a date change on the cards or shall I post a ride for this Wednesday?
Hmmmmm!

yeaaay! brian had the blonde moment!!!... i meant it for a week this wednesday as I am going to some concert this wednesday...and therefore can't ride...
If you aren't coming on this ride please could you put some directions on from Acron Oval end through to that single track you take us on and up to the showgrounds? Otherwise i am sure someone enthusiastically will suggest something that involves more hills than necessary and probably will want to include going up quarry - which i would rather come down...
Here you go Christine
I will probably be there tomorrow anyway so can show the way.
http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=d&source=s_d&sa...
I'm planning to come, but if I dont..itβs exactly as Buck has plotted.
Head north down Acron Rd
Turn left at the street with a park on the corner (Blackburn St).
Take the next right (Whitehaven St)
Take a right (Liniglen Place).
Take the first driveway on the left - go past 3 or 4 house and turn left between the houses onto the trail.
Just out of interest there is no mention of a post ride beer or food - is this some sort of joke
I will be riding there so may be a tiny bit late, but I'll try to get there on time.
has anyone coming on this ride got a spare ayup battery they could lend me for the night? I've left the house this morning with only one in the ute. Its not crucial but would be better with both lights working!
I don't have any batteries but I could bring a spare Cree light if you get stuck, it would get you through (cascades isn't very technical) .. let me know.
Gazza,
I have a spare and I should be there.
its just the battery i need, i'm hoping to do oxford falls(the legal part), red hill and maybe a lap of the dam before i meet you lot. Hopefully i.ll get the timing right!
The mere suggestion that we will not be having a beer at the end of the ride sent shivers of horror down my spine β of COURSE we will be drinking afterwards β byo ... Although, I think that pub is open again now β Greg?
Either way, best to bring a beeer, along!
Christine's going to get a fine for organising a ride larger than 20 riders without informing NPWS
Buck why don't you pull out and come on my seperate ride. I'm doing cascades leaving Wyatt Ave around 7.15 tonight
I'm in Paul. Come on who's with us?!
is open...no longer the President, some fancy name that I have forgotten already but The Belrose hotel is a possibility
yet then and does it look nice? i have driven past the signs and I can't remember what it's called either (no surprises there!)
so... we can go there if people are hungry i guess?
Paul, what time do you think you may finish your ride and would you guys like to meet for a beer afterwards?
Unfortunately I'm pulling out tonight, so you'll definitely be under the "20". Off overseas next week so see you in April
Christine, "I thought maybe for a horrible change we could do my least favourite track - would like to do the ride up to the showground and back but not sure about time? Open to suggestions - as long as it's not four gates.. I am not that friendly with hills..."
Probably finish the same time as you do.
I was 95% certain of coming this morning, it's now down to 80% - fingers crossed
I'm out too much on at the moment.
Only the bottle shop is open, but only till about 8:00pm.
As I am riding to the trail head can I leave my beers in somebodies esky?
see yas there.

Luverly ride, Thanks Christine.... just the right mix of hills, getting separated from the pack and mud.
It was nice of the NPWS to send Ranger Kim out to explain the proceedure with ride notification and the work they are doing in the area. Hopefully we can form a stronger alliance and progress trail access for all park users?
Yes I thought it was a positive meeting Kim the ranger.
Points taken from the impromptu meeting, it's been said here repeatedly but there is a minority that are hindering the chances of having a purpose built track network by insisting on building illegal tracks. Aparently the recent one on Smiths is a shocker.
We did have a talk about the technical downhill from the sub station to near the bottom of Quarry and they are planning on installing a sigh where the track does enter National Parks soon. As long as you take the exit to the right by the pylon you will exit onto the fire trail and all will be OK.
And the most important thing to reiterate - Mountain bikes are not allowed on walking tracks.
As I was riding away I did feel that progress is being made and that N.P are ploughing through the red tape to get something up for cyclists but that changing legislation is a slow process. According to Kim the submission of emails/letters does make a difference.
Thanks for posting the ride Christine, not too many hills in the end
LOL @ Kim. Not too many hills in the end? It was the hills in the end that killed me! The legs didn't want to know about that long climb back to the meeting spot after we saw Kim... they'd had enough. I've got a bit more work to do on the endurance, methinks.
Thanks everyone for a great first ride. It was a hell of an experience doing a night ride first time out. It was quite awesome.
Colt.
