Can't believe I am putting my hand up for your madness 2 weeks in a row Tien.
I'm only doing it as I know my body will thank me after DW100. Which is I assume why you are doing it?
well anyway, BRING IT ON!
how happy am I now that I am going to be supporting George in fine George and Mildred Style this weekend - Tien, you are the master of posting horrible rides! surely Philberesford will be up for this one? He seems to like horrid rides too!!!
since DW is coming up in 3 weeks and i am not doing any training during the weekdays, so have to make use of the weekends.
Christine, i know you would have liked to come along if you could. So come on, forget George and come along with us.
Tien.
I don't think George would be very happy with me if I did that - plus I can't keep up with you roid boys..you would be mere specks in the distance AND! Tien, I may have blonde tendancies, but I am not entirely stupid, no way would I do that ride much as I do enjoy your company!
For not listening to tien sterring up trouble, not only George but the rest of the solo nutters need your smiling bubbly personality to lift our spirits in the early hours of the morning, after 18 hours or so on the bike, some of us will be feeling below average to well below average so if you have any large pom poms etc perhaps you could lead the cheer squad.
does that mean i can bring my hot pink sequinned bra then?
I am expecting full abuse from 24hr riders if i am bubbly when you are knackered!
hot pink and sequinned sounds spot on, it would an uplifting sight to knackered riders so I wouldn't expected any abuse as long as you're cheerful at 4am
I knew we should have put a cheerleader team together, Christine
We could have dressed up Jane Fonda style (with sequence) for the first 12 hours and then changed into something more authoritarian for the second half - no slagging off, boys
We would have needed a male member for V, though...
BUT the best boy who loves to flash his bottom is George and he is riding...
He'll be changing his lycra at some point. Come on, this is Gazza we're talking about. He'll have at least 5 outfits, including matching shoes
Mmmmmm, if only the shoes came with matching bags
What is the expected distance to be covered? also, it is labelled as a training ride, is the intention no or minimal stops or is it more like half social half training?
Cheers,
Staffan
but Towlers and Elvina are not easy, so get ready for some climbing.
Weather looks good from now til then, so should be a great day out.
Sean, toughen up princess! :0) if you can finish both of my posted rides and feel ok, then DW100 won't be a struggle.
Tien.
I'd put this ride around the 70km mark...
Would love to see your faces coming out of Elvina Remember it is a middle ring climb.
Well Tien, i'll pack a pink tiara for the ride!
You are right though, these 2 rides will have us primed and confident come time for DW100
Tien you must be taking this DW ride seriouly given the trails you have picked are either rocky and eroded or sandy bogs - and everybody knows how much you hate sand.
Happy fishtailing.
or he's very very afraid
Loose dry sand, how much i like it.
Having said that Waratah may be a bit wet still, Elvina and Towlers should drain well as they are quite steep.

John - hope you are OK! Seems Tien thought you'd bailed with Grifter but Grifter says you changed your mind and didn't actually bail (we bumped into him on McCarrs Creek on the way to Perimeter). If you carried on down Elvina can't see how we could have missed you though!
Aside from this, the ride went quiet well. The HR data is missing from the profile for some reason, but I put in a sprint finish and was hitting 180+ on the road home so still lots of energy which was good to see
my prediction was 1.81km off
After i bailed out with the huge (easter) egg on the rear tyre it exploded on the road back to Terry Hills. The 1 inch rip in the sidewall was patched up with an empty Gu packet which saved me a long walk back to the car. Great ride , some trails i've not done before , hope the rest of the ride was as good .
Thanks guys! Awesome ride. Now I think I might survive Dirtworks. Made the mistake though of racing Rob at the end which resulted in the dreaded cramps getting hold of my hamstring.
Actually Loz, you see we didn't actually do Bairne (I pooh-poohed it as too flat) but if we had you would have been more than 15Km off I reckon.
Which brings up this point: Full 100Km distance could be had by including Bairne then tossing in a second lap of Duck Hole/Centre at the end. Hmmmm... fun!
I've never done that trail. I was actually only thinking of what you guys did as 70, but yeah, way off including Bairne if you did it.
