There is a ride posted for this here http://nobmob.com/node/8066

It's a shame I was looking forward to a Canberra 100km, next year it will be then!

Don't blame the Defence Force. Blame the organisers for announcing a race which did not have 100% approval. We use these training ranges throughout the year and often with live ammo, explosives etc. These ranges are booked well in advance and I can't see the Army just stopping all this for a day so that a thousand riders can stroll through a range.

The Army probably paniced with all the news paper reports of the bikies wanting to raid their armouries.

They had thoughts of a 1000 hairy, sweaty and tattooed mountain bikers launching a stealthy off-road uphill raid against their facilities.

May your wheels be true and your stroke smooth

Um, why? Blame the organisers??? WTF? Ok, maybe they should have got more approval before going as far ahead with the race as they did, but THE RACE WAS THE THEIR IDEA. It has been postponed BECAUSE OF THE DEFENCE FORCE NOT GRANTING ACCESS.

Fair enough maybe the land is booked a long time in advance, but how is that the race organiser's fault?

Bikeboy's picture

Gained access before posting a race through land which in all liklihood has loads of live ammunition throughout , if it went ahead i dont think i would be stopping for a tree stop in here , we would make great moving targets too

"The alternative is a 20km section of major bitumen road which would make the event 115km long. We would rather not hold the event than to put you through such boredom."

lol

Their idea yes. But why publish event dates, entry dates and what not all before they were sure they could run this race.

Plus the website has been updated. When the entry date first came around they were not so diplomatic about it and asked people to whinge to their local parliament member about how the defence force didn't let them run a race through their property.

I didn't know they actually asked people to whinge to their local parliament member. Forgive me if I'm mistaken. I thought it was actually a a letter to the defence force minister in Canberra. Which isn't a winge but more a show of support. Did they even use the word winge or is that just you?

I trust you won't be there in 2010 then?
