Dirtworks - Woodend, Vic - FINISHED
Did the whole race in granny ring. Bike was fine the night before. 5km in couldn't change any rings at front. Could go up but not back. Tried to adjust but couldn't. Max pedalling speed was 25kph for whole race - but it was actually quite pleasant!! Last year only had a front brake... What is it with Woodend and me. Oh - also got seriously lost the night before in the woods... like 25km lost in the middle of nowhere until the ONLY car in the whole area came past on a dodgy firetrail. Yes - lucky. Note to self - READ THE MAP BEFORE RIDING NEXT TIME (or take a GPS).
Track was insane with daunting NorthShores (rickety bridges over 3-4m drops) and pretty technical. My back muscles are sore from heaving the front over 200+ logs on the single track - of which there was heaps - very like a technical Sparrow Hill. 104km long. Heaps of DNFs.
I wore my Double Centurian jersey from last year coz I'm proud of it... Got a few comments too. So 3 down, 1 to go for my Quad Centurian jersey.
Went through 4 bottles of electrolyte (3 fillups), 1.5 litres of normal H2O (backpack),7 Caffeine Verofit Gu's, and lots of free bananas and watermelon at the stops. Felt good at end - apart from back pain and sore right thumb from shifting (XTR better than X0 shifters IMO).
Excellent race. See y'all at St Albans.

Hey - I've changed this to a blog entry as you were writing about an event in the calendar. If you can persuade the creator of said event (Don!) to fill in the race categories then you can edit this blog entry and enter that, your race time, result, etc.
This all might seem a bit odd, but it's cool for keeping a record of your race results:

Cheers!
still in melbourne with limited internet access, will sort it when i am back in sydney next week.
I am pretty much healed up after my 2 stacks at the BMC on sunday (just slight soreness on shoulder and knee), going to Lysterfield (comm games mtb track i think from a few yrs back?) tomorrow with my brother in law. Hopefully the body holds up for a few laps
