Im especially looking forward to the ten or so hours of driving. that will be special.
See you there guys , Darren.
Hope you have a great race!
thanks Junkie
Darren - i will keep a look out for you and Bruce on Sunday morning to say hello.
I am staying in essendon Saturday night at my brother in laws place (40mins drive from woodend) and am driving down sunday morning
Road trip was interesting today with the wife and my 2 kids (4 and 2 yr old), Lots of whining from all but luckily thanks to a portable DVD player and a nintendo DS we got through it ok
Have a good one if i dont see you
Don
just a quick one as I am doing this from my phone.
basically I crashed twice. injuring my shoulder, elbow, knee and ankle. should of pulled out but I htfu (plus I want the double centurion jersey ) rolled through with considerable pain for the last 45 to 50km but eventually made it in a super crappy time of about 8.5hrs, but happy just to finish.
more later
Don
Respect Don, you've earned the jersey for sure.
Was it a good race? Who won?
Hope you mend quickly.
heres my garmin stats from the BMC 100.
I crashed around the 35km mark (i think?) and then just before the 50km mark, at that point i was hurting and cruised/stopped/cruised/stopped alot just to make it back.
Thanks to Bruce who i rode with until about the 40-45km mark where i became too slow and lost him up one of the many hills. He stopped after my first crash (as did many other riders) to see if i was ok, thanks again. I pushed to stay with you afetr that but ultimately i wasnt going to keep up your pace in the condition i was in.
Garmin shows 2400m climbing, i think they advertised about 2000m, think they need to revise.
Don
p.s. quick note to the organisers, if you state the event starts at 7am, then start it at 7am, that extra 30mins waiting around in the cold and drizzle was extremely annoying, especially with no shelter to hide under.
