I hear that the Belrose Waste & Recycling Centre Community Advisory Committee are having a meeting at Mon 15th (June 2009) 3.30 pm at Covenant Christian School, directions here:

It would be good if someone from the MTB community could go to this. I believe the plan for the old Belrose Landfill is to turn the area into a recreational site and although this might not happen for some time it's important for the planners to know MTB riders are here and could benefit from this.

This is during working hours or I'd go, but is there anyone here who could manage this time? Please shout out!

NB: This is nothing at all to do with the recent good news from NPWS or the Oxford Falls PoM submission. Something or nothing may come from that we best to pursue all avenues for riding venues.

Myself and Brett from MWMTB have been attending these regular meetings for a while now - basically they are a means for the community to discuss with WSN any issues they have with tip operations (that impact upon the local residents). It's doubtful any discussions on future use of the land will occur - we have covered that in previous meetings and now the life of the tip has been extended we're resigned to the fact that negotiations on future use aren't going to happen until a closing date for the facility has been established (2 or more years away)

However, we will continue to attend these things to keep our profile up with the relevant people....I should be attending the next one on the 15th.
