I said (yes, this is getting comical):

In theory the landfill site might make a nice riding venue. However, back in 2001 it was scheduled for closure in 2005. I understand that date has since been pushed back to mid-2010 at the earliest - a date hardly likely to be kept as WSN now proposes that an extra 180,000 tonnes of landfill be dumped here. Given the constant slippage in this date how can the community possibly rely on what might happen there?

Besides, why should riders be relegated to some possibly toxic ex-landfill site when there is plenty of beautiful open space in this area that has been used for riding for many years?

The real problem here seems to be that authorities do not want to engage with the riding community to solve the issues at hand. Riders are more than willing to help maintain and care for trails if only they were allowed to do so. Surely such engagement would foster more respect for these venues. How can that bring anything but good? Why are the authorities so against this?

Have a read of today's editorial as well.

I went to check out the letters section in regards to yesterday's article, and there above it was the editorial fully supporting us, and actually in a positive and insightful way.
