Hi All,
This is my first time on this site and thought it might be a good place to post a ride meet for next weekend. We've just organised a few friends (5 of us so far) who at least have a bike and decided we'll check out Appin track since most of us are in Campbelltown.
We will have a GPS with us, but someone with knowledge will be awesome to take with us. The more the merrier as well!
Anyways... cheers to us noobs for planning it! lol...
Who's in?
jdb, HeezaGeeza, PINBALL, argon, kepz, kevin8, PaulSz (7 riders)

I will be in Campbelltown next Saturday, not sure if that will be at 8am though. I will confirm next week, it depends on how organised I am in my preparation for the 6 hour at Nowra the next day.
I don't use the meet point at the corner of Burke and Market, instead drive down King St and turn left onto the dirt road, it leads towards the Scout Hall. The track starts just over the gate, in a clockwise direction.
Google maps shows a link between King and Market streets but this isn't correct for cars, there is a firetrail you can ride connecting the two. Here is the whereis link: http://www.whereis.com/nsw/appin/king-st?id=89B9...
Hi JDB,
That'll be awesome if you can make it. Your meeting point sounds good! Will try that.
Were you asking if it is an 8am start? If so, we are planning on an 8am start so those married boys (myself included) can go home to do their normal Saturday chores.
I need the ride to start early also as I have a party to get to starting at 11am.
Hopefully I'll have everything for the weekend organised by Thursday night and I'll be staying at the parental's place in Campbelltown Friday night, otherwise will be an early wake up on Saturday.
This will be the debut ride for my new bike, looking forward to it as it will be a good test before the 6 hour on Sunday.
Well... I hope we won't hold you back then if we start at 8am. Should 1.5 hours do us?
Is it worth taking out my Stinky? I see there are quite a few hills on the track... might be a struggle, but I know to get off and just raise my seat as high and comfortable as it can. I find that really easy for me to ride when on the road's climbing hills.
If you're keen, I look forward to riding with you and my mates... I wouldn't say my mates are noobs, but I certainly am and unfit, lol.
There hills at appin are nothing to really worry about, I think there is only about 250m of climbing in a lap. You will love the Stinky on the downhills.
Appin is a 10km loop, if you want to get two laps in I'd say allow for 2 hours.
I'm happy to take it easy, this will be the first ride on my new bike. Depending on time I may break away for a faster 2nd lap.
I truly am excited! Can't wait...
I hope we get a few more to join us so you can enjoy a 2nd lap with someone that can keep up. We'll do our best to keep up though.
I'm quite interested in doing this ride. I've ridden Appin twice before and found 2 totally different routes (read: got lost twice and found my way back). Would be nice to go with someone who knows where they are going.
I've parked the the entrance gate, cnr market and burke. where exactly on king street is the entrance. Is it the end of King st?

Hi, I havent ridden Appin before so would appreciate coming along. Kevin
Hi Geeza/Kevin8,
Cheers for joining us! JDB will most likely lead us on this ride as my friends and I have never been riding before. Like the subject says, we have nice bikes, but (I guess I speak for myself) very unfit... however, I love riding and have done a few tracks back in New Zealand. The best place to be converted to Mountain Biking.
I'm very excited and I'm counting down my sleeps to Saturday morning.... yeeeaaahh! I can see myself already on Friday, checking and re-checking my tire pressures, brakes, etc.
Please follow the post 'Appin Meet Point' from JDB for meeting on Saturday morning.
A ctown local here. I'm in unless I'm still sick.
Chris
...it means more people to invite next time I go to Appin. I'm at Minto and we have nothing there...
just hope I don't stay up too late watching the TdF
Thanks Paul...
If you guys don't mind as well, I've got more friends who I've invited by mouth! About 6 of them have confirmed... we ain't flash (hence the name of the ride this weekend), but we're all keen to give it a try.
Here's an inspirational video for those who've never been riding in the bush before, to get you excited for Saturday. I wish I could ride like these 2 guys.

yes!! sort of?
the young blokes soccer is not on so a hoon arround appin would be good see ya there
Big thank you to the boys that came down for the unfit guys, who were... me and ahhh.... me! lol. I apologise for holding you all up, but I could have sworn there were more (unfit guys) that were suppose to be there... I guess it was too cold for them.
Anyways... thank you Anthony, Jay, Kevin (Mosman), Chris, Dave, Kevin (Carlingford) for the awesome ride. I apologise once again for holding you guys up.... you should have left me there to die! lol... I appreciate all for waiting up and being patient. I promise next time I ride with you... I'll be leading the pack instead. YEAH RIGHT!! The islander food always gets me... maybe this will be an encouragement to stay off the island food.
Jay... next time, just shoot me when I'm on the ground rather than giving me the secret Gel packet. Cheers bro!
Appin is definitely the track for me and thanks for taking Kevin Y. and myself around.
Cheers guys!
mate! once you had that gel it was like someone lit a rocket under your but, well done and thanks to all
That Gel was magic! Imagine if Jay gave me the stronger .... what-chi-ma call it...?? Caffeine...?? I would have left you guys well behind. ...I should have been given the Gel at the first creek crossing. I was already wasted then... I tried my best to hide it though. You know I'll be packing in my bag with next time I go riding? A kilo of those Gel stuff man, I'm converted! I needed it for every hill today.
Thanks once again 'Bog' (Anthony) for watching out for us unfit ones.
