D6 Upgrade Done
What is everyone doing on the site on a Friday night? Shouldn't you be watching the cricket[1]? Or later the TdF?
Anyhow - hop to it... I'll be running a site upgrade once the tour hits our screens this evening. Should be out for 30 mins or something.
All done... and isn't it pretty?
Please start a new 'site topics' forum topic or PM/email me if you find anything funny going on!

Good luck mate
p.s. I'm only on here because the TV has been hijacked my "Do you think you can bloody dance"
Looks good Rob.
Modernised NObMob. Very Wordpress like.
Yes, very nice Rob! Was it much of a mission or did everything go smoothly?
Erm... a little bit tricky... I'll write some blurb perhaps.
Hey Rob,
As always, doing an amazing job for us all.
The site has a really new and modern feel about it now.
Well Done
W.
When I view the front page the topic lists are all shoved to the RHS and overlap. Viewing in IE7 Shift refresh etc does not fix it for me. IE* is OK, but IE7 was OK this morning at 5 am?
I know, get rid of IE and use FF, but I'm too lazy.
Ohhhhh, as soon as I voted it all went back to normal. Rob, call me paranoid, but because I voted "bettererreer" I think it allows it to work properly. I reckon if I'd voted "worsereeererrer" it would've gone completely loopy.
Nup, as soon as I went back to the front screen again, and there was an empty comment field at the top of the page, the pagination of all the lists in the middle frame again went to the RHS.
This morning I had a message re PM in the comment field which could be why it was OK then.
lazydog.
Rob,
In the message list I only get the topic of the message not who sent it until I open the message. Makes it a little harder to track down who you want to reply to. Can that get turned on or is it a user setting?
Nick.
I noticed something funny with IE and changed couple things this morning, not sure it's anything to do with your voting
Working fine on both FF (PC & Mac) and IE8 (Win7).
IE sucks!
Here's the report my little browser checker tool gives
-and-
so those are only colors and backgrounds which wouldn't blow IE too far apart, if at all.
The rest checks out o.k.
IE8 fixed the problem whatever it was. I'll get around to FF sooner or later....been 5 years now so prolly later. Still not getting new/update notes on threads, only on individual posts or on ride meetings.
Home page formatting is all jumbled when I use IE8.
Firefox works OK though.
These IE problems... do they come and go when you resize the window?
When using IE6 I notice that sometimes it puts the home page content below the left sidebar, sometimes it puts it next to the sidebar how it should.
One can resize the window and the content flashes about as you actually drag the size. It's rather annoying and suspect to do with this Internet Explorer box model bug. That said, that has meant to have been sorted in later versions of IE so what's the go?
From my testing
Working fine on IE8 in Win7
Working in Safari OSX
Working in IE6.0 on XP2 SP2
Working in FF XP, Vista, Win7, OSX.
Not working on IE6.0 Win2000 SP4 (as if anyone is still using this right?)
Not working on IE6.0 on XP SP1 (probably lots of people still using SP1- update people, this is 2009!!)
Re-sizing doesn't help.
FWIW I'm on 2002 Windows XP Professional
Rob two quick CSS things you can try:
1. html { margin:0; padding:0; } to "force" IE to turn off the undocumented few pixels of padding older Explorer versions on some OSs put in by default, presumably "for luck".
2. your divs all say {width: 100%; } - you'll get a better result if only the outer div is 100% and all the inner divs are 99% so as not to be bigger than the holding div
2b. actually you'd be better to state the div widths in pixels, and then the browser doesn't have to work out what 100% or 99% actually is
cheers,
Hey rob every time I go to the home page I get an authentication alert "A username and password are being requested by http://dv2.nobmob.com. The site says: "R2B2 Development" "
I'm already logged in but this box keeps popping up.
Using fire fox
Are you using the correct URL - www.nobmob.com ?
... small problem with a shared cache
Should be fine now.
Hi Rob,
I like the new upgrade. I use Chrome at the moment as my default browser, and the "Latest Forum Talk" section on the homepage lists the topics, but doesn't list which are "new" or not for me. All of the other areas on the home page (Group Rides, Latest Comments, ect) do list what is "new" and seem OK.
Not a real issue and I generally know which threads I've visited, but I just figured I'd let you know.
Thanks!
The only little thing that bothers me with D6 upgrade is the huge red NEW button for new posts when you read a thread - it stands out too much against the whole theme
Tom
LOL... someone else complained it was too small so I made it bigger. Just goes to show...
Ah yes... missed that before but should be there now. Nothing to do with browsers (thank G$D).
Hi Rob
My RSS feed for latest forum talk topics doesn't seem to be updating since the upgrade. Also I use IE6 at work and the "inline" smaller thumbnail pics below a main larger picture seem to be out of line (but works fine in Firefox 3.0).
The feeds listed here should be back on now:

Any more issues, just shout out.
Some people are stuck in the past, and sadly will be for some time it seems. Here's an interesting insight:
http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Microsoft-Inter...
For the record, in July 12.27% of hits on NoBMoB came from MSIE 6.0. Come on people, sort it out!
Yes my work computer is still using IE6.....and I can't do anything about it
I hear my computer is meant to be changed in a week or two though.....fingers crossed it's half decent!
LOL... think I might have to install this...

Please install this Rob
IE6 must die!
