Narrabeen Lakes loop
A number of weeks ago I was keen to check out the loop so I could take my missus around it. It was the first time I had gone around and got to the creek crossing (to get to the golf course with the concrete weer to walk across) and came to a gate with a chain and padlock. Have I got the correct spot? I followed the 'sheep track' across the clearing as per my mates instructions.
I didn't go any further than this gate and headed back to the terminus.
I've now got my missus bike finished and want to get her out and about.
Cheers

Hi muvro
Unless I am mistaken that route through the golf course is still a public right of way. I also noticed that the gate was locked, but judging from the worn grass around to the right of the fence most people just walk around it.
I think I heard (perhaps somewhere on this site) that the golf club are trying to stop the public right of way but don't have any more. We have never had any problems riding, and sometimes pushing around the edges of the greens.
The first time I went around the lake I thought the same thing. It turned out that all the chains and padlock were just wrapped around the gate, but not locking it. You should be able to just open the gate.
Thanks for the reply guys, much appreciated!
Will check it out.
Cheers

Did this loop yesterday with the kids. After hefting two bikes over the fence, I noticed that the fence stops short of the creek so you just walk around.
The padlock isn't locking the gate, just that the latch is broken so the pin cannot lift with the lever.
Access is still under negotiation, but I heared council has approved 3.5 million for the project?
We should ride over golf courses more often. The golfers all said good morning and were very cheery, most walkers on the other hand were quite surly.
For what project?
I imagine that the project would be this one:
http://www.warringah.nsw.gov.au/community/NLMult...
That's the one I meant. Though I can't see how you'd spend 3.5 large on that little section.......unless the golf course wants for some new facilities, and SARC need to be bought off.
I'm not sure how the 3.5 Million is to be allocated but there 3 bridges to be built, so I imagine that it's all add up rather quickly. Also, there's security issues with the Sport & Rec facility as they don't want the little kiddies being molested during their school camps (at least not by the general public), so I beleive there is a proposal to fence off the trail around that section with locakable gates between dusk-dawn. Titanium locks maybe?
