Training for Angry Doctor

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone have any recommendations for some long trail k's that don't have to be done multiple times like Manly Dam and not as easy as Terry Hills? I'd prefer to train around the northern beaches but to my understanding most trails would need to be rode a few times to get anywhere near 100km, I think I'd quit due to boredom if I had to ride the dam 10 times to get to 100km.

Thanks for any tips.

I'm interested in this too as the Angry Doctor will be my first ever 100K.

From what I've heard about the course, I think Manly Dam and Ourimbah style trails will be good training as it's mostly single track with not many opportunities to rest. The boredom of doing these trails 10 times in a row though is an issue.

Link the northern beaches trails together to form a big loop. I rode a combination of manly dam, oxford falls, red hill and cascades (in that order) all in one go. There is a small amount of road riding , but all up, it was about 50km.

I've gone soft and elected to do the 50km irate intern. However, while training, i've put on some large heavy tyres and softened up the suspension. It makes riding that much more tiring. About a week or two before, i'll refit the lighter, skinnier tyres and firm up the suspension a bit and you feel super fast.

That's what I'm doing too. I generally ride with 2.35" tyres and now I've also got a DHX coil shock on. Come time to race I'll fit 2.1's and re-fit my air shock.

Bike should feel a LOT lighter and faster after that!
