Northern Beaches Trail Advocacy

One Northern Beaches Council - submissions close Friday 8 April
Fellow Mountain Bikers,
Normally I am an apathetic participant in life (well to some extent), but as a passionate mountain biker, and having seen the vitriol expressed by some in our community opposing a mega council, I believe apathy will see a once in a life time opportunity missed, to the detriment of our children and future communities that need to maintain the unique northern beaches environment.

Trail maintenance Gahnia and Serrata
Has any one heard anything about maintenance for Gahnia and Serrata? Sections of both are badly eroded and need some work to fill in the holes.

Any mtb entrepreneurs out there?
Ku-ring-gai Council are looking for expressions of interest in developing commercial opportunities around St Ives Showground and the Wildflower Gardens.

While they seem to have overlooked mtb facilities in their possible scope of operations, there is maybe an opportunity there?

Trail Direction
Hi Mobbers,
Just a quick question in regarding what is the correct direction for riding the Trail around the St.Ives/Mona Vale Rd areas.
Is it best if one parks on the Dirt clearing opposite Bunnings area, then ride towards St.Ives Showground, or Park at the Showground and head back to Bunnings, its probably been answered before, just thought if anyone else has wondered about it.
Cheers

Riders on carvings
Hi all
We have been asked yet again to remind people to not ride over the 'moon rock' carvings on the other side of the fire trail from the model aero club at Oxford Falls.
Unfortunately the previous board at the Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council did not sign or progress with the MOU we drafted two years ago which was an agreement to work with other land managers to resolve trails and specific issues in this area. This MOU was drafted following in-principle agreement to proceed from all key land managers.

trail maintenence at Redhill
hi noticed recently that someone has been doing some good work at redhill to the creek / glory trail. I would like to help make improvements but don't want to mess with anyone's plans.
If someone on here or you know who it might be then maybe get them to pm me to see how I can help?
thanks

NPWS Warning for Bantry Bay
NPWS have erected a sign on the entrance to the Bluff fire trail advising to keep clear of this area this morning. they are flying in (weather permitting) the final bridge for the Eastern trail a.k.a. Ghana track.
I think its ok to continue to ride Serrata

Manly Dam more trail clearing
We've received more advice from Warringah Council regarding further fire trail work by RFS/SCS on the Allambie side of the Dam. The section of trail between Monserra Rd and Nyrang Rd is actually a fire trail and forms part of the protection zone for homes in Southern Cross Way. It's not the same classification as the Curl Curl Ck fire trail so wont get quite the same treatment. Work will include brush trimming to allow vehicle access and may also include some earthworks. Weather permitting the work should be oompleted by mid November.
