Clean-up Australia Day 4th March - Oxford Falls

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Guys,

We love our tracks and work hard to keep them great.

On the March the 4th, help us doing a little garbage cleaning on the Oxy downhill tracks and the road (Morgan Rd) back up.

If you can make it on Sunday the 4th it would be great, but if not, perhaps you can help by taking a little of the litter home with you when you ride the area.

Petition AGAINST proposed MTB tracks in Garigal NP

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Just as a FYI, about an hour ago I popped in to the Forestville shops on my way further a field.

There was a lady there with a petition against the proposed MTB tracks in Garigal NP.

I didn't have much time as I had my mum waiting in the car but I stopped quickly and had a quick chat.

Her main concerns were destroying pristine native bush which had been this way for thousands of years and the fact once mountain bikes were allowed in, motorbikes would come in and create noise and be a fire hazard not to mention damage the tracks.

Please Read: Get to Forestville Park - NIMBY's in action

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

There is a car boot sale at Forestville Park today (Bottom of Currie Road, Forestville).

A local NIMBY has hijacked the event and is spreading mis-information about the proposed Garigal National Park trails and asking residents to sign a partition against it (based on this mis-information). She was saying things like the trails will be going over aboriginal features, that the trails will be rolling a creek line and causing erosion, etc etc. A NIMBY through and through though as she was pushing the point that the other areas of Garigal National Park would be OK.

Freedom Dirt Jumps: Urgent Action Needed

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Despite Fiday's Manly Daily article indicating that consultation with the Freedom Dirt Jump riders was underway, it appears the bureaucrats may be planning a pre-emptive strike.

Perimeter fencing, star pickets and orange construction mesh have gone up during the day on Friday, and it is thought that demolition is imminent.

While some may disparage the Freedom riders for unauthorised trail construction, the thing we need to bear in mind is this: they have already tried working with Manly Council, and it didn't work.

Manly Vale bike path freedom in doubt

And the cycle (pardon the pun) continues...

http://manly-daily.whereilive.com.au/news/story/...

Riders build unauthorised tracks, land owners notice, track gets shut down or destroyed, riders kick up a stink, track may or may not re-open. As discussed: Unauthorised trail construction can only end badly.

I have to say this is very disappointing. People should know better by now, especially given what went on with The Grove and after the recent announcements from NPWS.

a question re 19th hole Manly Dam

In my view, 19th hole has a fundamental problem hiding in its final roll over - yes, for most simple mortals myself included it's a roll over and as such it's the one line only - the last stone has a tendency to wander around and could present a problem if moved further down the line.. well, it did to me once - I did jump it, but since then I've been feeling a little twitchy each time I approach the section..

I am wondering if something could be done about it - remove it completely, or stabilize, etc..
