Does wicking gear actually keep you cooler than cotton or is it just more marketing hype?

Expensive wicking form fitting Cycling shirt or cotton T shirt? Which is really better in warm conditions for the MTB rider? (Less wind drag is one reason for the roadies to wear them)

In the market for new shirts so I've been looking at the evidence for wicking shirts (standard cycling shirts of today) being better than cotton. I can find no research articles that indicate the modern wicking shirt is better than $10 cotton, but some that indicate there is no difference between them in thermoregulation of body heat or comfort in warm weather (over 25c).

Sticky 20mm Maxle

Got a 20mm Rockshox Maxle on a 2006 set of Pikes....and they rock.

I have now got a Maxle that doesn't want to come out of the front wheel, and is extremely frustrating!
The non lever end spacer plug is not letting go and so the Maxle is still expanded. The plug does have a small notch in it from years of usage, but up until recently I haven't had to remove the wheel as often.

The only way to get it out is :
completely remove the 'non-lever' end cap
remove the skewer
poke into hole of spacer plug in end till it pops out
then remove the Maxle

Anybody else had probs like this?

New chain prep

I've just fit a new cassette, freehub and chain and wondered what everyone does with the factory chain grease.
Do you leave it on, degrease it and put your favourite lube on or something different?
Answers below...

Here's a couple of pics of the old chain against the new to show wear.

Getting steel frame back in shape

Can anyone recommend someone to get my steel frame back in shape? After three-and-a-half years of some pretty hard riding on this rigid, steel frame I've managed to bend the chain/seat stays. No structural damage. I love the way this bike rides and really, really wanna keep it rolling. Hoping I can find an expert frame builder/repairer to help sort it.

The bike's a Jones spaceframe – http://www.jonesbikes.com/framesets/
I know some of you will, say I should just get the Ti version, but that's kinda outa my price range right now.

Replacing BB71 Bearings

Hi all, i was wondering if anyone has taken Shimano bb71/51 apart to replace the bearings, i know it says on the BB that there not to be opened but it would be easier to replace the bearings rather than the whole thing. Is it possible? There's no doubt i could find Ceramic replaceable bearings that would fit cheaper than the whole BB, thanks guys

Warranty - What they cover ?

After finding after a few months of riding that the rear wheel of my bike was getting a bit on the wobbly side I took it into the shop where I bought it and been informed that Im going to be charged by the agent for for a hub rebuild because the sealed hub was found to have water inside. This I thought would be a fault with the seals themselves and not because of something like the way I have been cleaning the bike e.g high pressure water.

Hi everyone, just looking for anyones experience in ebay workshop stands. There are significantly cheaper and look of very similar design to more expensive ones. How wrong can i go?

Something like this for reference.
