Helmets
How big a hit should a helment take before you replace it?
I came off at Ourimbah on the weekend, ate some dirt but also felt the brain box take a whack into the dirt. Its an old helment.
time for a new one?

Shock/Tyre Pump
Good morning fellas. Just a quick question! Im wondering if such a thing exists where i can have a 2 in one mini pump to put in my camelback. Ive got a track pump which has the dual head (Presta/Shrader) but looking for something similar with a pressure gauge that fits nicely in my camelback. Basically i don't want to carry a separate pump for my shocks and my tires not to mention my small pump dosn't have a pressure gauge which is pretty useless.
Cheers!!
Jono.
Carbon Frame Work
Does anyone know a place (or even if its possible) where I can have some bottle cage mounts fitted in an existing carbon frame?
Dually advice
Hi all
I am looking for some advice regarding a new dually.
I have been riding a 29er hard tail for 4 years now and I reckon it's time to give my old creaky back a little rest.
I am not a racer but do ride the odd 50k'er and am not a weight weenie. I ride for the fun of it.
My question is, do I stay with a 29er and ride what I know or do I move to a 650b and learn something different?
I don't want to start a wheel size debate, I would just like to know if anyone else can share their experience moving from a hard tail to a dually and the reason they chose their wheel size.
cheers
Racing ralph that wont tear
Hello,
Just after some advice on a Racing ralph for the rear of my 26' Dually.
I use the tyre a lot around Kalamunda but find I keep tearing holes through them.
They tear through the tread not the side wall. I like the RR tyre and hope to keep using them.
I use the tubeless ready EVO type. Has anyone tried the snakeskin version?
Is that any stronger?
Thanks
Rear tyre - kalamunda trails
I need a new rear tyre. I have worn out my racing Ralph. Was never really happy with it. I found it slipped a bit much , especially when riding up hills.
Any other suggestions for an AM type rear tyre.a bit more grippy but not too heavy. And what width.
I'm riding a 26" dual suspension. Mainly in the Perth hills.
Thanks.
Ps. I have a nobby nic front. 2.25 wide. Brand new and happy with it.
Rockshox Monarch BASIC set-up & tuning guide
G'day all,
Here is a BASIC Rockshox Monarch RT3 rear shock set-up and tuning guide that I put together for anyone who needs it.
No info came with my bike, nor in any online manual, so I compiled a basic set of notes. It's just a SIMPLE starting place for playing around with your suspension set-up. Based on a 2012 model but it will probably help for other models. I originally posted it on mtbr and got some rep/thanks, so also posting it here for the locals...

Trying To Choose a Scott Mountain Bike
Hi everyone,
Could you please help me as to what "Scott Sports" Mountain Bike to get. Following are the criteria I am trying to meet:
PRICE (AUD) (RRP): $2500-$4500
SUSPENSION: Back and front, fully adjustable with the handle-bar adjusters
I will be riding on a mixed terrain, however I think about 60% of the time I will be riding on trails, and the rest on more rough stuff (rocks, jumps, logs, etc.).
If you can give me any advice it would be very much appreciated!!!
Thanks for your time!!!
Carbon Wheels
So let's put money to one side and just talk about the product itself. And we might as well focus on the golden standard: ENVE rims.
Are these a good choice of wheels for Sydney? We've read about how strong they are in comparison to alloy, and that they are tried and proven on the WC DH circuit and Enduro WS etc etc but if money was no object would you ride the AM or 60/40 versions of these around our AM trails, the likes of M Dam, Red Hill, Cascades DH, and perhaps one or two others that we can't mention?
Rock Shox weights?
Ok, I'm selling my Scalpel 29er ( classified to come soon )
And am building up a new bike with a "normal" fork.
I've set my mind on a 2014 Sid XX 29er but have realised there's the World Cup version at around $200 extra.
I know its got a carbon steerer, it's got the same internals I think?
Does anyone know exact weights of both these forks?
If the weight advantage is negligible then I won't ( 'scuse the pun ) Fork out the extra cash for the World Cup version and stick with the Xx.
