Mont 2010
I was volunteered to do the first lap. By the time I got down to the start line the queue was already long. I just jumped on the rear rather than pushing in. I was about 2/3rds of the way back when we got the start gun. The run/jog was fine as there was no room for an all out sprint in my position anyway. It got a little more chaotic when we reached the first of the bikes. People were darting off to the side to find their bikes and bikes were trying to get onto the track. It was certainly an experience!

Team Big Test Icicles - causing controversy again.... ;-)
Mont 2010 - Done and Dusted!
Another Mont 24 hours....this time without the rain to bed things down [cough]...but a great fun event!
Dust, Sweat and (no) Tears. Yes, an injury-free event for the Icicles - as per plan! Changing bikes from the 6" Enduro to a mate's shorter wheel base Giant Trance X2 a week before the race was a bit risky, but interesting. The weight difference was insignificant (13.9 kg, with Joplin and flat pedals) but the shorter wheel base and shorter travel made a difference on the climbs and switchbacks.

front tyre experiments
I found out first hand at the Mont the difference that tyre selection makes.
First up; while at the pre race brief they were chucking freebies into the crowd, I was tossed a Schwalbe Ralph! It went into the spares box as I already had two new tyres on my bike for the Mont. It was a real top score that turned into a rather fortunate one as well (about 5 hours later) I think someone was trying to tell me something!

Mont 24 2010 2nd place
we were one man down but finished allright. My lights did not work properly either hence apalling night times. Ordered new lights now to get ready for next 24hr.

Ourimbah Ouch session
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
Enter via Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. On your right will be 'TreeTops' for the kids and it's large-ish carpark. Carry on past there and the first small clearing which is were parking used to be, and is where the 'Browns' single track turns (you might see riders on your left here).
Parking and official trail head is now designated a further 350m or so up the road where a there is a larger area. There's a CCOMTB sign here by the trail entrance (on the left as you drive up). Park up nose to curb or as directed.
Want to do some laps of XC course, get up a sweat, maintain heart rate, but hey, lets have some fun too.
Maybe check out some other tracks.

Bike cleaning products
Just got back from the Mont and the bike looks like it has been across the Oodnadatta track and back. Cleaning the car will be easy but the bike is up for a full strip and rebuild. At the Mont I saw a lot of people spraying their bikes all over with a pump pack with some type of solution. I was too sore to get off my arse and walk over to them to ask what is was. Does anyone out there know what it may have been or any recommendations that you use
