Come on you lot , get you butts down here and race as hard or as casual as you like . I will probably give the D grade quicks a shake this time , after a very quick two week training blitz .....But dont let that intimidate you , super smooth single track , no agro and perhaps even a great coffee for the trip back home ! you may even have some talent , skill or even fitness and want to go higher than the dizzy heights of D grade , there is C for three laps , and even B four laps and it just gets scary up from here all the way up to A grade .

Hawkeyes Jr and Sr, Khappinghat State Forest

This is myself (right) and my cousin (left). When I visit my elderly dad in Forster, I usually organise to go see my cousin in Old Bar for a bit of trail riding. We lose ourselves for hours in the forest back of Old Bar, usually on fire road but there's a fair bit of singletrack if you know where to look. We try to be discreet so that the moto's don't see us and rip up the singletrack, as they're usually fauna trail strung together into a loop by the local trail fairies.

Christening the Yeti

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

This is just a record of set-up and impressions as I get the Yeti dialed for riding position, and suspension settings. Bike Addiction spent a lot of time (and with the way I chat that is a big lot) getting the bike set up, and teaching me what to look for and how the different adjustment relate to body mechanics. If you've never been pro fitted to a bike, I'd recommend paying for a session just to see what improvement can be made.

After a night, sleepless with exitement I rose to a slightly overcast morning, but no overnight rain. Perfect for an exploratory 20 km ride on the new beast.

General Trail Etiquette

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

NoBMoB encourages sensible and sustainable riding practices. Remember the trails are there to share and need to be cared for, this means:

Do not ride in the wet

You might think it's a bit of fun but there are many good reasons not to ride in the wet. The three main reasons are:

  1. Trail erosion (caused by all activities - not just riding) is accelerated when the trails are wet.
  2. Bike wear and tear is also greatly accelerated when riding in wet conditions and can be very costly.
  3. Seeds and other contaminants are more easily picked up and carried in wet soil.

Awaba

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi all, I just completed a visit today of Awaba and I can highly recommend a visit. Well worth it. Sweet single track through rolling country, well maintained, not at all technical so ideal for newbies cruising to experts wanting to fly around a circuit fast. Excellent sign posting. No big climbs, just snaking ascents. However, in these damp conditions, the trail can trip up the unwary. I lost it twice (front wheel) and hit 2 trees (rather large chaps), one upright, the other lying on the ground.
