New fire trail off Cowan trail?
I noticed today on Cowan trail it appears there is a new fire trail branching off to the west about two thirds of the way along.
Looks like it has been recently cut in, along with a few "layover" areas on the existing Cowan trail. The ground is still covered in grassy vegetation, but I didn't see any other evidence of vegetation removal such as tree stumps and the like.
i didn't explore the full length as I was with other riders, but I saw pink ribbon markers going a little way further ahead.
Does anyone know anything about this new trail section?
Terrey Hills / Duffys Forest update for 07 May
This report covers the section from the Jap school: there odd mud puddle in the first couple of km but otherwise great.
The section from Nerang to where the trail from the Jap school joins the fire trail is apparently quite muddy, but claimed to be rideable. We skipped it.
I caught up with Daniel v-N and his crew and according to them, Duck Holes and Centre trails are in good nick today and their bikes were mostly clean.

Convict 2017
Preparation was a bit disrupted by a 3-week trip to the US for my son’s wedding during April. Only one flat ride early in that trip meant there was a bit of catching up to do once back in Oz the week before the race. After a few rides that week, I felt pretty good on the lead in and was hoping for a better result than last year’s 6th in the really old blokes’ category.

A good traffic line for north / south travel after the Convict today. Some pretty loose stuff on the hills in both directions.

Great Northern Road update for 06 May
Still plenty of sandy spots and tough rocky sections, but after a few hundred riders have been through today, there is no better time to tackle this iconic section of Sydney sandstone off road riding.

Lost helmet & gloves at Manly dam
Hi. I left my helmet and gloves near the log in the car park in front of the school at the trail head for Manly dam. If you've spotted them, could you please let me know? It was a black / charcoal lazer helmet, and a pair of fingerless specialized gloves.

The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
End of Quarry Road, Hornsby - Parking is well signposted, directing cars to park at the END of the road. If this is full, park in the Dural Street carpark.
It seems like an eternity since local riders met up to groom the trails at Old Man Valley. Well, the opportunity it on again on 13/5.
There's a lot of vegetation growth and debris on the OMV trails atm. The budget is running thin and so we need riders to get in a help with the basic maintenance. This will allow Synergy to work on bits they need to finish.
Kowen Forest update for 03 May
Rode East Kowen yesterday, some of the single track is looking rather unloved at the moment, not that's it's in bad condition necessarily, just doesn't seem to be getting a lot of wheels over it so leaf litter and pine cones are building up.

Manly Dam update for 01 May
Rode this on Sunday 30/4.
Most of MD is a lot drier than it was 2 weeks ago - tacky offering good grip. A few small puddles around, but generally nice and sticky. The trail is a bit rutted around by the kids playground at Allambie but is not too soft. Possum's, the Mistress, Serata, Dukes of Hazzard are all similar.
