Newbie advice needed

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi all.

I've recently discovered the Manly Dam trail and really enjoyed it. It's really well looked after and tricky but fun at the same time. I'd like to do it again soon and some of the other trails in the area, the only thing is my $200 Diamond Back, Big W special isn't up to the job.

I'm not loaded with cash and only have about $600 to spare. As I see it I have 4 options.

1) Go to local bike shop, hand over $600 and come away with a Malvern Star or low end Giant, Trek etc.

2) Find something on Ebay.

3) Save a few more $ till I reach $???? for a really good bike.

The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.

Meeting Point:

There's a small parking area on Caley Drive next to the trail head. This is approximately 2.1km South from the larger road junction (circle) at Mt Annan Drive and approximately 1.4km South of the main car park.

Their address is Mount Annan Drive, Mount Annan NSW 2567. See:

http://www.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au/annan/fast_facts

Show on Google maps: Meeting point. Login or register to get directions.

Very last minute but it's probably the only dry place I can think of. I have never been there but planning on doing laps for some sore of training for Dirtworks. SMS me if you can join me.

Manly Dam update for 16 Apr

Area:
Manly Dam
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

I was at the golf course car park trying out my new cleats and had a look down the track that ends there. Totally flooded though if you live in the area you're probably not surprised. Even the path along the football field was being carved up by the streams caused by the rain.

Yellomundee Regional Park update for 16 Apr

Status:
Amber/Some Issues

With the wet weather this weekend (16-17 April), please give Yellomundee RP a rest - please wait a day or so after it stops raining. Even then please don't ride in wet/muddy areas.

The next WSMTB track work morning at Yellomundee will be at 8.30am - 11.30am on Saturday 14 May. We plan to work on the area north of Shaws Creek to bring this section back into good riding condition. All welcome to attend! Followed by a ride and BBQ. Send me a note if you can come.

Terrey Hills update for 16 Apr

Status:
Amber/Some Issues

It has been really wet in Terrey Hills overnight, just as the trail started to dry out, so there are large puddles everywhere and damp claggy drive train wrecking sand everywhere. Would still be rideable, but do your drive train a favour and save it the wet sand treatment.
