Sparrows toot ride on saturday 3rd?

Is anyone interested in checking out the Warratah Trail on Sat at 7am? Done by 9am.
It's off West Head Road, the trail on the left before the Salvation loop. Its an out and back of mostly firetrail and some sections single track. Intermediate level technical (so I'm told) so all rideable. Views are reputed to be great and at that time, there should be a few animals to spot too.

27 May 2006 - Morgan Road

Ryan, Greg and I joined the guys from shutup and ride at morgan road sat arvo, a full report can be read at shut up and ride with photos: Saturday 27 May - Oxford Falls.

I must say we all thought we new morgan road well after 4 years of riding it ,we were very wrong and we were shown I completely different aspect that was 1000% more challenging and new.

An amazing ride with pain coming up the other side of deep creek and then doing the cross country course back to front.

Anyway we have a lot of new tracks to show off and we are planning on doing them this weekend so stay tuned and I will send an invite to all, closer to the end of the week.

Mountain Devils 6 Hr - June long weekend

Hi all,

Just got this email from Mountain Devils - I'll be away, otherwise would probably go for it - would be very much like a one day polaris challenge, loads of fun, remember it takes a lot of practice so if you are keen to start getting into MTB orienteering (e.g. Polaris) then this would be the event to do:

Uncle Sam needs you ...

Well, maybe not ... but Mountain Devils sure does.

Entries for the MDN 6Hr MTB Orienteering on the June Long Weekend are well below expectations. We need to get a lot more entries over the next week if we are to run the event.

As a reminder, the event is a pointscore event in native forest just south of Taree on the mid-north coast. The event area is huge, with the purpose made map covering 2 x A3 sheets on an scale of 1:25,000 - almost 4 times the area of our usual event maps. You will get a chance to ride on some great trails in State Forest and National Park (which are normally closed to events like this).

----------- and from the entry form -------------------

"A 6 Hr pointscore/cyclegaine event on mountain bikes in State Forest and National Park
on the NSW Mid-North Coast. This large area just south of Taree is mostly native forest with an extensive track network. The terrain is varied. Expect some challenging climbs and fast flowing downhills. Ideal training for Polaris, adventure racing and rogaining"

$30.00 per rider

28 May 2006 - Terrey Hills

Sunday morning, not a cloud in the sky a fantastic day for a ride - Liz, Robin and I set out for a leisurely start at 9am (ish!) after splitting up some enduro bars and GUs (something told us sustenance may be required)

Sandy Trail, which was a lot of fun, more slick rocks and undulating trail, probably less sandy than the long trail. (also it's rained this week, so the sand is packed), a bit of Bibbenluke and home along the perimeter trail. Nearly four hours of exploring (ask Liz Smiling but the coffee at the end was great. We ran into Celia from CBD cycles - she can sure hop a bike!

Update: Forgot to mention, great chance to exercise those on the trail repair skills - Robin's rear derailleur cable snapped so we had to strip all the bits off the end of the cable until we had enough to go under the bolt. Nearly had a chance to try for the single speed conversion! Oh well - the fix lasted till we got back - without a pair of pliers, we would have been stuffed, so I've got to add one to my toolkit...

Also a great day for photography, so please excuse all the arty shots... Smiling

What's going on? What has caused Rob's jaw to drop?

Trees and grass

Very warm colours in this shot, also high contrast because of the overhead sun make for an unusual image
