A bit of Perimeter Trail (from Durumbil Rd)

Below is a preview, click to read the full post
Ride Database Entry:
Terrey Hills / Duffys Forest

About as easy as it gets: this out and back ride has a bit of single track to start/finish and the rest is pretty smooth firetrail. Idea for beginners.

The Perimeter firetrail is one of the most popular trails on the Northern Beaches. This route is the easiest option for beginners to explore. As a bonus there's a little single track to get to/from the main trail.

Park by the Japanese School on Booralie Rd. At the end of Durumbil Rd head left into the bush. There's around 500m of single track to get you to the main fire trail.

Perimeter Trail Out & Back (from Nerang Ave)

Ride Database Entry:
Terrey Hills / Duffys Forest

All firetrail out and back from Nerang Ave. This is suggested for beginners, but has a few steeper sections (downhill) to start so that's uphill to finish you off.

The Perimeter firetrail is one of the most popular trails on the Northern Beaches. This route is one of the easier options for beginners to explore.

Start at the East end of the trail, which is at the end of Nerang Avenue, Terrey Hills. Many people will also choose to park at the shops on Booralie Road (corner with Yulong Ave) and ride past the playing fields to the trailhead:

Magpie scoreboard

On my ride to work this morning I started getting a little paranoid about getting involved in avian confrontation. I've been noticing zip ties on helmets recently and figured an impact was lurking. The I got to thinking how it would be a good idea to have an online register so I can plan my route to work accordingly. And lo and behold!

If anyone is riding from Frenchs forest to Lane Cove, please can you keep it up to date Smiling

Cheers

Oaks distances

Does anyone know the rough distances for the Oaks fire trail from the causeway up to the gate at the start of the single track, both height gained and distance travelled would be great, and then also the length of the single track from the gate back down to the end where it spits you onto the road at the hairpin above the causeway?

Many thanks

Installing a new chain

Gday fellas just got a little question for you guys (and girls).

I bought a new 10 speed shimano xt chain to replace my cheese cutter kmc and wondering if anyone has any tips for the install? Can i cut to the same length as my old chain or will stretching make it difficult? Also can i reuse the quick link and are different brand quicklinks interchangeable?

Thanks,

Jono.

Evocities XC series 2015

Sounds like an interesting series.

Would you travel the 3+ hours for this when there's already the Chocfoot and Rocky Trail series?

Clean Racing Update, + Last Chance Before the Fling…

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

A quick update on Clean Racing.

Please note Clean Racing is a NobMob Affiliate, so this is a paid ad.

Our first 2 members have been on the program for 10 days now.

Bailey was already very lean and fit, but is looking to build more strength and speed. After 10 days on our nutrition and training program he reports feeling stronger and recovering faster, which is allowing him to get more from his training. He had a great race at Ourimbah on Sunday, finishing 3rd in B Grade.

Nowa Nowa

Nowa Nowa Gallery

Nowa Nowa is a quiet East Gippsland town situated not far from the well know holiday destination of Lakes Entrance. Located adjacent to Nowa Nowa is the Mount Nowa Nowa Mountain Bike Park that boasts over 30km of single track which is suitable for all levels and ages.

As well as the Mountain Bike Park there are numerous XC tracks that link other areas about the place including the famous Stony Creek Trestle Bridge and Lake Tyres. Also there is the East Gippsland Rail Trail which travels from Orbost to Bairnsdale (94km).

Well worth a look at if you are down that way and a great post ride cup of coffee can be had at the Mingling Waters Caravan Park.
