Hello

Hi everyone,

I've been lurking on here for a while and thought I would sign up and say hello. I moved to Sydney a few months ago from the UK and have been sampling the local trails (Manly Dam, Royal National Park & Blue Mountains) and am loving it (well except for all the rain).

I ride an grey Orange Five, so if you see me out and about say hello!

Appin update for 01 Mar

Area:
Appin
Status:
Red/Closed

I walked the track to trim back the overgrowth on Monday and this afternoon. It is red. The first creek crossing is up and flowing fast. There is lots of standing water on the track and a good number of section with water still flowing down the trail. There were two motos riding the singletrack in the wrong direction because "the firetrail has too many puddles".

Let the folly begin

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

March 1

After a couple years of enjoying various events ranging from Club XC, marathons and 24hr team events (not with much success I might add) I've decided to take it to a logical conclusion and have a crack at a 24 hr solo. Given I'm a complete newbie I have a fair bit to get sorted out before the event, The Scott 24hr on October, so I thought I'd keep a record on this here blog both for my benefit and to be able to tap into the collective knowledge of the forum.

Manly Dam update for 29 Feb

Area:
Manly Dam
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Rode this early on Tuesday - a lot dryer than it was on Sunday, but still a big quagmire before Monserra.

Although with last nights rain I suspect it is now a lot worse again Sad

Opinions on tubeless kits

I'm running DT Swiss XR4.1d rims with Nobby Nic UST 2.1's, looking to ditch the tubes and wondering which kit is the best option.

The DT Swiss kit is reasonably priced and designed for the 4.1s, but has mixed reviews

The Stan's kit says it is compatible with 4.1s

Any suggestions / other options?

Beginner noob question. Can I use a presta valve tube on a rim with an opening for a Schrader valve. also roughly much would an adaptor cost for my pump to use with a presta valve?

Camelbak… rogue or fairfax

Looking to buy a small hydration pack, with a bit of cargo possibility (extra tube etc…),
and I can't make the choice in between the Camelbak Rogue or Fairfax.

Anyone could recommend one of these two?
