Rides 20km or longer

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Hi All,

I'm very much a Blue Mountains Rider but am getting to a point where I've done the rides I'm doing and getting bored is the wrong word for it but I'm keen to learn about some great tracks that I haven't done for a new challenge In the BM's and outside....I know there are a lot of websites listing these tracks but id love to get someones perspective of how they enjoyed or didn't enjoy the track

Anything over 25-30 km I'd love to know about

Cheers
Aaron

Blue Mountains on a cross bike

Hey guys

Coming up to katoomba from Sydney for the weekend with the missus -Gonna have a few hours to kill on Friday arvo before she arrives and thinking about hitting some trails on the crosser.

Can you recommend any trails that would be particularly fun to ride on a cross bike?

Cheers

K

Linden Ridge

Hi, Just wondering if anyone has ridden Linden Ridge lately? Is it worth doing or is it overgrown and painful to ride?
Thanks, Adam

Hi there.

I'm wondering if there's anyone with experience of the trails up this way—e.g. Andersons, Yarramundi etc.—that might be up for taking on a buddy?

Comparing The Oaks to Six foot track

I have never done the Six Foot Track by foot or bike but always wanted to. Now that I have managed The Oaks up and back I was wondering if I can now attempt Six Foot track as an up and back? There seems a little more vertical but the distances seem similar. Anyone got a good gpx file with altitudes so I can compare? Is there any drinking water available on the track do I need to carry everything? How much walking is there? I was planning starting at the cemetery in Megalong Valley. What do you think?

Thought I would share an article from last Tuesdays Penrith Press (April 9th, 2013).

Edit:
Just found a related article in the Western Weekender How tragedy can bring hope (Friday April 12th, 2013)

His target is almost 3/4 complete, I encourage everyone to make a small donation and help get Marc and his family over the line.

The Oaks trail status?

Hey, Planning a trip to The Oaks tomorrow with my old man an a mate of his.. the haven't ridden much and I wanted to give them a good experience so I was wondering if someone can give me an update on the current conditions of The Oaks trail? Has it been a lot of rain there the last few days, and how does this impact the trail? Thanks!!

Also, anyone tried a Cyclocross on The Oaks?

Is the loop accessible over this long weekend. I see camping grounds are closed but I'm looking at the loop and not camping

LOST- Knog Blinder rear light. Off Halcyon Avenue, Winmalee.

So I had a bit of a stack in the bush off Halcyon Avenue on the sniggle leading to Springwood Ridge and Grose Head South. I had a Knog Blinder 4 led light on the back of my helmet and when I hit the ground I think it jarred loose. The clip was still stuck in my helmet. It is the red GT stripe model with a black silicone band. If anyone finds it, it would be cool to get it back. Ta.
