Beginners ride - Stromlo
Uriarra Road, just up from the Uriarra Road/Coppins Crossing Road turnoff.
Hi - 2nd leg of the 'Intro to Aussie MTB riding' for my brother, who is a retired MTB rider.
We'll be hitting Stromlo and doing all the favourites. It will extremely relaxed, is likely to involve crashing, but will not be fast.
We are riding Wingello on the Friday, so he will probably be broken from that.
Anyone is welcome, we'll be the two 'ranga' poms in the carpark.
Beginners Ride - Wingello
4Km SW of Wingello village on Caoura Rd there's a small base camp within the forest - seems as good a place as any.
Hi - my brother is in town from the UK and I'm taking him riding at Wingello on Friday and then Stromlo on Saturday.
IMP - he is not a rider. He has ridden and raced bikes back when we were teenagers, but hasnt really done much other than commute to work since. It will be a very cruisey ride, and extremely social.
It is likely he may even stop for a quick smoke halfway round the loop.
We'll probably do one lap of the Red loop before enjoying a burger at the Wingello Post-Office for lunch.
If anyone is off work, and fancies a loose ride, then just pitch up.
Glenbrook to the Oaks
Glenbrook Park. In the small car park opposite the shops.
Glenbrook to the Oaks(the middle gate) via Euroka and Bennetts Ridge firetrail, return on the Oaks single track.
All welcome!!
A blast around Berowra
Corner of Gully and Berowra Waters Road.
I changed the location from Quarry Road Track to Berowra because it was a lot direr than I expected, so thought it'd be good to do a loop around the Berowra track instead!
beat the rain at Appin
North end of Burke St, Appin. There's a small parking area here at the trail head.
Note that the map shows Market Street connecting Appin Rd to this location but that is actually a firetrail and will not work for drivers who should take King St (next block South) and enter from there.
with all this rain around it seems appin is most likely to be the dryest MTB track in Sydney so a few social laps will be the go ,good opp to check the place out before the rock wallaby enduro in 2 weeks and for all those who are not riding dirt works but want to get out for a ride come and join us for a bit of fun!
I am open to changing start time to suit others If it helps.
Merida Whaka 100
The Merida Whaka 100 is an event designed to specifically challenge those riders who want to completely test their body and mind. The challenge was laid down in Zippy's Cafe at the start of 2007 - 'Dean, you should really run a 100km race' - and the response was given with interest with the design of a course that is arguable New Zealand's toughest mountain bike marathon.
EVENTS RUN ON THE DAY
For the Merida Whaka 100 event we offer four different events:
Short Course Individuals: 25km
Medium Course Individuals: 50km
Whaka 100 Individuals: 100km
Whaka 100 Teams: 100km only

Newbie at Ourimbah
Enter via Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. On your right will be 'TreeTops' for the kids and it's large-ish carpark. Carry on past there and the first small clearing which is were parking used to be, and is where the 'Browns' single track turns (you might see riders on your left here). Please do not park in this car park.
Parking and official trail head is now designated a further 350m or so up the road where there is a larger area. There's a CCOMTB notice board here by the trail entrance (on the left as you drive up the hill). Park up nose to curb or as directed.
Sorry about the late notice, anyone keen for a couple of laps at Ourimbah? I've only been around the track once so if there is anyone who knows the area and is willing to take the time to show me around it would be greatly appreciated. Ride will be just a casual cruise. Anyone is welcome
wingello easter ride
4Km SW of Wingello village on Caoura Rd there's a small base camp within the forest - seems as good a place as any.
I reckon wingello is an awesome place for group rides ,it has such a remote feel about it, anyway I think 1 lap of the "willo" loop including the new bits of singletrak would be a blast, then revisit some of the single track bits just to add a few extra km then a coffee and feed at the little cafe near the station would make a nice end to the ride.

Hey,
As was being discussed on the forum I'm heading up to Ourimba this good friday. Never been before so gonna explore the area or if people in the know fancy coming all the better. Plan on being on the trail for 11am
Its not going to be anything too stressful, just a social ride, enjoying the pleasures of a day off work
