4Km SW of Wingello village on Caoura Rd there's a small base camp within the forest - seems as good a place as any.

Heading down to Wingello for the weekend in preparation for a couple of upcoming rides. Going to make a weekend out of and bring the tent for a spot of camping.

Planning on riding both days, the pace won't be super-fast.

Feel free to come along for either or both days.
Riding on Day 2 will start a little earlier. (Probably 8am'ish)

I will also be bringing my GF as she is keen to ride some of the other trails around the place, so consider this a WAG friendly weekend of riding out of the city.

Merida X-Fusion 6Hr Enduro

Our good friend Duncan at DIY MTB / X-Fusion has put together a six hour enduro. The race will be run on one of the sweet 'SCUM' xc tracks near Nowra. It is flowing single track with just enough fire trail added in to aid passing. It will probably follow a simillar format to the WWS. Deb and I have signed up and are looking forward to it.
Here is a link to the website. http://www.diymtb.com.au/6hour/

If someone could help me post it in the Ride Calendar / Race pages it would be appreciated.

Incorporating a series of training sessions and rides with our great team of instructors, this weekend will provide you with the opportunity to improve your riding skills in a social & relaxed environment. On offer will be a range of sessions targeted at improving your riding on both singletrack and trails in the Wingello region.

An absolute ball

I had a blast on the weekend with so many happy and appreciative riders doing the same, we got to the single track and split into 2 groups the XT's and the XTR's, I was fortunate to have Alex helping me and he led the XTR's out at a good pace both groups met up just before the Junkyard and we all had some fun there, we continued sending the XTR's off on the the longer and hillier routes which worked out very well with a large group. Lunchtime was a treat under the shadey trees at Lawson school and with such a large group it made sense to get a case of beer. To be continued after some sleep

Camping Canberra or southern highlands

Kathy and I are looking to go camping for a weekend down in Canberra or the southern highlands over the next few weeks before the cold weather sets in, with a couple of days of biking in the usual pine forest areas.
Does anyone have any recollection or info on camping areas in the vacinity?
Hot showers would be nice but all other creature comforts can be forgotten about.
Cheers
Gazza and Kath
p.s. i see you took Pratiwi down to the S.H. a while ago. is Wingello ok for Kath?
