dusk / night ride - Glenbrook to helipad and back
Glenbrook National Park
Going to have a go at a dusk / night ride from Glenbrook to helipad and back.
May return via single track.
This is the first night ride for me, so any other experienced night riders more than welcome.
New roadie test ride
Terry Hills shops
I have finally got a new roadie so will be getting out for a ride on Sunday arvo to test it out.....
Meet at Terry Hills shops and do a West Head Akuna bay loop (maybe even do two loops).
Quarry Road Track
End of Stewart Ave, Hornsby
There's basically four sections to this out and back firetrail: Great downhill (Anderson's style) descent that lasts forever, that gets down to a beautiful bridge. Then followed by an equally forever uphill (the erosion on some of the tarseal doesn't help) when we come to a campground. That's before hitting the steepest bit of all, which goes forever. Things start to get a bit easier, as it's only small inclines and declines for 3km before the Quarry Road gate. After turning around, we go off to the left fork at the campground for more small ups and downs.
Berowra
Corner of Gully and Berowra Waters Road. There's a little playground there that has a tap to fill water up from and a car park behind the shops.
SEE YOU THERE!
NOTE THAT ON THE MAP IT SHOWS MEETING POINT TO BE AT END OF OVAL, WHILST ACTUAL POINT IS CORNER OF GULLY AND BEROWRA WATERS ROAD!
ALSO, IF YOU HAVEN'T ARRIVED BY 8:10 AND HAVEN'T CONTACTED ME (my number's in my profile), WE'LL ASSUME YOU'RE NOT COMING...
If you've been here before with me, you'll know what to expect. If you haven't here's a rough outline:
Super Slow Terrey Hills
Park opposite/beside Terrey Hills shops, corner Booralie Rd/Yulong Ave. Or in the small carpark next to the RFS station & community centre.
Late notice ride for tomorrow... I haven't ridden on the dirt for over 2 months so this is going to be slooooow.
Plan is just to trundle out to the end of the Long track and return. Depending on how that goes might also do duck hole + centre, but that is an optional extra only.
Hope this sun lasts, if it's raining I'll be at home on the trainer
Reverse Half Back in the Saddle (and Back)
Glenbrook National Park Car Park
Going to have a crack at oaks up and back from Glenbrook.
Anyone who is keen to come along is welcome- otherwise I'll go it alone.
Menai - regular Wednesday night ride
OPPOSITE THE ENTRANCE TO ANSTO ON THE NEW ILLAWARRA ROAD, LUCAS HEIGHTS.
Time to start dodging the spiders again at Menai on a regular basis now the weather is warming up. (I'm sure they've been effected by nuclear fallout from ANSTO, they seem twice as big as anywhere else)
For those that don't know Menai, there will be technical ups and downs, there are a number of rocky sections and new comers to night riding might find this a bit tough.
Hope to see a few of you there.
Chris
Berowra
Corner of Gully and Berowra Waters Road
Changed location of this ride from Quarry Road Track, since I couldn't come here last weekend.
It consists of a great firetrail with two good lookouts with a rainforest scenery, then some more 'interesting' stuff. Good technical and fitness suggested. Trail discription, follow this link:
Berowra fun stuff
Park at Corner of The Gully and Berowra Waters Road.
Pity about the weather!
Easy Sunday Morning @ GHS (slow pace)
End of White Cross Rd, Winmalee, NSW. There's a small parking area here but it's a standard suburban street so overflow isn't a problem.
I have yet to ride the sniggle+springwood ridge but I'm getting the impression its a little tough. But anyway, I dont imagine it being worse than climbing up bees nest hill.
Plan on riding a figure 8 (Shaws Ridge, Blue Gum swamp, sniggle, springwood ridge, look out, down bees nest hill, BlueGum Swamp)
I have also invited some beginner friends. So pace for this ride will be slow.
Thought I would post it if anyone else would like to join in.
