Awaba explore
Just up Jenkins Road from corner with Mount Faulk Road.
I'm lucky enough to be heading up to lake Macquarie for Saturday night and have decided that a long awaited ride at Awaba is on the cards. Having never ridden there before, I'm keen as to discover the goodness created by the good folk up North.
If there is anyone who wants to join me or has any info on best tracks, I'd be keen to hear from you.
I'll be in a blue VW transporter van riding green cannondale.
Thanks Mike.
Ourimbah virgins
Enter via Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. On your right will be 'TreeTops' for the kids and it's large-ish carpark. Carry on past there and the first small clearing which is were parking used to be, and is where the 'Browns' single track turns (you might see riders on your left here).
Parking and official trail head is now designated a further 350m or so up the road where a there is a larger area. There's a CCOMTB sign here by the trail entrance (on the left as you drive up). Park up nose to curb or as directed.
Lorchio and I haven't ridden Ourimbah so we're heading up on Friday (tomorrow) to check it out. We'll be kicking off around 10am and will spend a few hours exploring.
We'll be trying out the downhill course, the XC offering and anything else we come across.
If you're around on the day we'd welcome the company and if anyone wanted to show us around it would be great.
We might see you there...
Menai - regular Wednesday night ride
OPPOSITE THE ENTRANCE TO ANSTO ON THE NEW ILLAWARRA ROAD, LUCAS HEIGHTS.
Time to start dodging the spiders again at Menai on a regular basis now the weather is warming up. (I'm sure they've been effected by nuclear fallout from ANSTO, they seem twice as big as anywhere else)
For those that don't know Menai, there will be technical ups and downs, there are a number of rocky sections and new comers to night riding might find this a bit tough.
Hope to see a few of you there.
Chris
Quarry Road Track: The famous waterbar punctuated descent
End of Stewart Ave, Hornsby
This ride quite literally has its ups and downs. The upside is the great downhill blasts on either side of the creek, but of course, what goes down must go back up
But despite this, you'll get your fitness workout, as well as have some great views of Berowra Valley Regional Park, as well as see the grand old bridge at the bottom.
Won't go to much more detal - just look at the description of the track on the site... it says all you need to know.
BE WARNED: YOU NEED A GOOD DEGREE OF FITNESS TO ENJOY THIS TRACK!!
But once you can do the uphills, it's all great fun
A Dam Good Ride
King Street (near corner with Arana Street), Manly Vale. You know - outside Manly Hydraulics Lab.
I haven't done this ride before, so am hoping someone might be off work/school that day (I'm trying to clock up my hours on the bike before I start year 12 the week after).
I've heard it's badly signposted, so I need someone who knows the track well to show me the way... I want to do this at a farily rapid pace, but not at breakneck speed, since I don't know this track yet. Hoping to do two or three laps to familiarize myself with it.
*NOTE THAT THE TIME OF THE RIDE IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS I BECOME MORE INFORMED OF THE PREDICTED WEATHER - I DON'T WANT TO BE RIDING IN HOT WEATHER.
Berowra Firetrail
Corner of The Gully Road and Berowra Waters Road
SADLY, THE WEATHER IS TOO UNPLEASANT AS OF SUNDAY NIGHT, AND SEEING AS THE TRACKS DON'T WEATHER WELL (AS IN, GET FULL OF PUDDLES), I'M GOING TO HAVE TO POSPONE IT TO ANOTHER DAY
If you went with me a couple of weeks ago, it's the same as what we did then.
Menai - regular Wednesday night ride again
OPPOSITE THE ENTRANCE TO ANSTO ON THE NEW ILLAWARRA ROAD, LUCAS HEIGHTS.
I'll be going earlier tonight now, due to lack of other participants, I'm not brave enough to face the spiders on my own. I've posted the ride for next week, hopefully someone will be interested!

Marramarra expedition
Bloodwood Road, Fiddletown heads up to the National Park. There's a sharp right bend by Marramarra Ridge Trail, with Coba Point Fire Trail shortly after (the proceeding sharp left). There's parking by either trail which are less than 1km apart, but the area by Coba Point Fire Trail is the go.
Checkout the trail description about Marramarra in the NoBMoB trail descriptions.
We'll discuss exactly where to go at the time of the ride, though I'm keen to embark on the adventureous Smugglers descent and steep climb up from the creek, though the Coba Ridge track (remnicient to the Old Great North Road) also appeals to me. Comment to tell me what you'd rather do.
NOTE I'VE CHANGED THE TIME OF THE RIDE!!!
Upper Mountains Mega-Medley
Best place to meet is probably my place. I'll PM those coming with the address.
Late notice, but I'm going for a local ride this weekend, and wanna put out the invitation.
The Ride
This ride takes place in and around Blackheath, and has a bit of everything:
singletrack, firetrail, steep climbs, waterbars, 60km/h blacktop switchbacks, stunning views, devonshire tea, support crew...
The Basics: Start in Blackheath, Hanging Rock (out & back), Megalong Valley Tea Rooms (lunch/brunch), limousine service back to Blackheath.
Duration: 3 to 4 hours, depending on how many scones you eat.
Manly Dam at night
King Street (near corner with Arana Street), Manly Vale. You know - outside Manly Hydraulics Lab.
Easy social night ride around the dam. My second time at night and first time at night for a couple of friends
