Scott 24hr=Fun track !!

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

The team Imported did not have much luck this year but we had a great deal of fun and the track was just amazing when there was no many people on it! I have to say that the two courses system (red and blue) last year was a better idea to reduce the congestion than the one course system. I hope that they are not going to keep the one course system for next year .... I am a bit concerned about the number of people that will be on the track next year as if I understood properly they will run Scott 24hr and world solo at the same time.... I guess we will see!

The dust and the heat

The sun was not even up yet that the temperature was already around 20, we had breakfast with the amazing CBD crew and drove to the start which was 11km away. I felt not too bad, my legs were fine, I slept well, I had a beautiful dinner cooked by Damo the food magician the day prior so all was going good for me. I knew that this race will be a hard one, I never ridden the course and some really strong girls would be racing. I had a crazy goal of finishing the course under 6hr which I thought was hard but a manageable goal.

It was my second time in the Elite world (the fist time was JetBlack 101) and the start was really interesting.
I said to myself try to hold on for as long as you can ...

We were 4 women in the Elite group, when the race started the pace was actually not too bad at all (I was actually surprised!) There was some on/off pace (really fast and bit slower) typical road race thing to do ....I was behind Lee and Jason English (Who was chatting with another BMC rider).

It has been a long way since 3 years ago when I put my bum on a saddle for the first time in my life…My dad would not believe it ! I finished my first 24hr solo race, just to finish something like that it is a reward on its own you learn so much about yourself that you can not imagine. We were 6 people who made the challenge to go and spend 24hr on the saddle. 6 crazy people and 10 amazing support people were side by side in two different worlds one, out on the track dancing between pine trees and the other one on the side of the track feeding, cleaning and managing some deep mental down.

Fun at the bird 24hr

Todd (Todd took Shawn’s place as Shawn was really sick), Gav, Alex and I had a great fun and some trouble as well during this 24hr
First the track was just great and perfect to work on your cornering…I realized how bad I was at cornering when on Friday afternoon we went to ride the course …I was behind the boys and then after a corner lost some ground on them so I needed to pedal harder to get back on their tail….If I didn’t pedal I would have lost them….

The WWS round 2:

The way to the start line was interesting as I almost crashed in super big hole hidden under the grass…Mmm that was not a good start. Two other solo girls were next to me at the start and one looked strong (she had The Look..)
Start and here she went like a rocket ….

After having an amazing time with Gav's friend Ian on Saturday (we saw a fluffy goat, spoon bird, a snake with no teeth and fish) We took the train with our bike and big bags direction to the house of MTB 24h soloist mentor John alias Carlgroover. When the boys were talking, I was working on finishing a really important part of the ARC grant application as I had a big dead line ...Gav called me to have dinner and I had gluten free pasta and supa salty cheese and pasta sauce (no beer).
