Round 2 of the WSMTB 4hr summer series was gearing up to be a good one with probably 3-4x more riders than the 1st round.
Last round I went out too hard and suffered towards the end.
The plan for this race was to get a good start then ease off through the middle and hopefully finish strong. The plan fell to pieces in the first 50m getting stuck in the bottle neck and riding the 1st section below walking pace. It took 2 full laps to actually get any clear air and be able to ride at my own pace. I definitely need to get further up the front for the start I think.

Great opportunity to ride some sweet Sparrow Hill and Kowen single track, for a good cause (fundraising for Bec Henderson), in an interesting format (team pairs - ride with your buddy). Two x 25 km loops, passing through the event centre twice each lap.
Spoilt for me (and my team mate) by the imposition of a previously unannounced or even foreshadowed cut off time. There was a mention of it in an e mail sent out late Friday, well after I'd left for the ACT, but even that described the cut off as TBA.

I am here from the states looking for riding partners. I don't know the area very well but have google maps to help me.
If anyone is looking for someone to ride with I can pitch in for gas.
I have riden downhill,free ride and cross country for several years so I'm up for anything.

I went for some laps this morning at the new OMV trail. Parked as recommended in the car park near the highway about 8am and thought based on the lack of cars that I'd have the trail to myself. I rode down to the trail to find a dozen or so cars near the trail head.

Anyone keen to do this ride on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th?

The much anticipated video of our Boys Weekend Away mountain biking. A few nobmobbers, MGL Tipriders and a few other mates hit up Awaba, Glenrock then off up to Kirarrak in Taree. Temperature were hot, humidity was hot, riding was - awesome! i have linked together a few clips of the ride into a soundtrack that best reflects our age... I hope you enjoy! What a race. Great friendly atmosphere by the organisers. No request was too difficult. So friendly & accommodating. The whole event went like clockwork. Or at least that's what it seemed like to me as a very happy customer.

Camping was great too except idiot campers camping right on top of us moving our markers. F*&*&n idiots . Such an aggravation. People just don't think or just don't care. Anyway....

After the fling it took about half a day to move fully into holiday mode as I didn't have any more races scheduled for 2012. Then an email or two arrived containing the usual combination of Dicko and Ant's enthusiasm about one last race for the year.

I had originally planned to enter this event as my first solo event, and crack 100km with some breaks in between laps. But due to some other events (including the weather forecast) I entered the Tuesday beforehand with a friend from work.

Another awesome day of end of year fun, chatting sh!t and sledging mates at every opportunity.
Another hot race this year 34-35degs?, track was tinder dry and dusty.

Have not been up to Awaba since last years event so it was good to see the place. This was only my second event this year and only the third time on the MTB so happy with the lap times considering.
