Scott 24 - Jet Racing Masters
Scott 24Hr - Jet Masters
To follow on from Ant's report, the older constabulary of Jet Racing also had a fantastic time, great success, and the building on some new friendships that make these events something a little different then a marathon or individual event.
Our team was formed from a group of us that have over the last 12 mths come together through racing each other competitively over the marathon season. This was something different, this time all of us would be working together for a common result.
Our team included:
Paul (Slowman) Sloan
Steve (The Black) Knight

The Scott - Jet Racing Report
The Scott 24 – Jet Racing
These races are never really about 24hrs.
Its not even 48hrs - the 12hrs on each side of the event itself.
No - these races start weeks before the actual race. Building a team. Getting commitments from riders, and organising camping and tents and food and drinks and heaters and music (essential) and lights etc etc.
Jet Racing were in the fantastic position of having two teams of 6 entered. The Masters Team, (Paul, Wayne, Matt, Brian, Steve and Kane) and an Elite team.

2012 HMBA XC Rd 9 - Awaba
Raced in C grade. First race at Awaba. They used a different route for this race. Almost took a wrong turn on the first lap which lost me 20sec. Had a few gear problems which lost me another 20sec. I couldn't get around the guy in front of me for 8th. First race on my new Trek Superfly.

2011 HMBA XC Rd 10 - Dungog 3hr
3rd out of 4 in E grade. This was my first race. Poored down with lots of thunder and lightning in the last 1hr of the race. Suffered sore hands for the first half of the race which slowed me down a lot.

My Whyte 829
I've finally succumbed to the hype and got myself a 29er – a Whyte 829 which is their “trail” 29er. I didn't want another race bike for enduro’s as I have no intention of changing from my 26” dually so went for a play thing.

what a day :(
Ok so today drove up to Awaba to ride.. all the way from sydney....
My first hint it was going to be a bad day should have come from the fact that i was already feeling ill with a stomach bug of sorts.... but i thought hell lets push on and get up there and see how things go
anyway after cruising through the 1st 2km or so with cc rider and friend i started to keel over in pain - i took a bit of a break hoping my stomach would settle out, i had to bite the bullet and keep going (you woulda thought i would have realised something isn't right by now..)

My first snake of the season
Being the snake magnet I am I don't do as much riding alone anymore out in the bush. So yesterday I'm just riding along clocking up km on the cycle way behind Prospect Reservoir when I stumbled upon this dude wriggling across my path.

big foot family
Woke up early on saturday morning after a freezing cold night ,weather was fine and I was looking forward to a recce lap of the course and also to become more familiar with my new specialized 29 HT. after a big breakfast and a bit of socializing a group of us headed out on the course . with a few windy days prior to the event there were a lot sticks on the trail, unfortunatley a large stick found its way into my rear wheel and smashed my X9 rear mech bent the hanger and spokes . so I taped the bits to my seatpost shortened the chain and rode back to the campsite.
