Newby friendly Terry Hills
Park opposite/beside Terrey Hills shops, corner Booralie Rd/Yulong Ave. Or in the small carpark next to the RFS station & community centre.
As discussed, this is my proper first ride back after an injury, and I'm under strict instructions from He Who Must Be Obeyed that I'm not to fall off! The missus would kill me if I did anyway, but the surgeon is bigger. Not sure who I fear more.
Anyway, this means the ride will be slow and social. I haven't ridden this trail previously, so we can go exploring together. My 13yo will be joining us, along with a mate riding his brand new enduro bike and possibly a mate of his, so it will suit those looking to bring a friend, significant other, or family member and introduce them to the sport. The length of the out-and-back is about 22km, so probably not suitable for really young children.
There are reputedly great views from a few points along this trail.
I'm in a white Commodore and you'll have a hard time missing my bike: It's a Kermit green Cannondale dually with a single leg fork. My youngster has a similar bike in black with silver wheels.
Were you there and have a story to tell?

So that sounds like the Perimiter/Long trail out and back? I may see you there, but I'm training for the Fling so it won't be a social pace. I'll say hi though If I pass you out on the trail.
i'll try to get there for something to do on a mostly wet weekend
weather
but doesn't look like fun with earlier rain and later rain
Keep the rubber side down mate
CB
Based on Rob's guidance we'll still be riding if the rain is light / intermittent and the trail isn't slick.
However, if it is bucketing down or the trail is saturated from previous heavy rain then we'll pull the pin.
Apart from needless drivetrain wear, as CB said I need to pay particular attention to keeping the rubber side down.
@BT, yes it's perimeter and long. We'll say hi as you flash past.
Hey Hawkeye. Would like to join you, but the outlook isnt good for weather. If its half decent I will see you there!
got to see my new bike wheel, and it's not right so it's back to the LBS tomorrow
missing my weekends on the bike
HI i'm just getting started on a mb. will see you there.
I'll be there but I wont click the star as I will be riding at my own pace and will do a couple of other tracks.
Cheers
Brian
Its bucketing althou its stoped now what happening with the ride? I really dont mind the wet i just wanna get out there.
Sorry, but having just been soaked on a short morning ride and having the luxury of week day possibilities I won't be joining this
The rain looks like it's really set in and more is coming from the West
The Perimeter/Long is a firetrail, nothing to damage aside from your drivetrain and brakes (and in this wet they will take a beating) but it's up to you. The trail can get very boggy East of the schools (Echunga Rd) so if you do brave it might be best to come out there and head back on the road.
Too wet for me
Just seen some of the heaviest rain ever pass through. Not gunna risk it.
As much as i hate to say it im also not joining you guys my bikes still brand new and i wanna run it in and not have to dismantle it and clean it. If you don't end up going i would absolutely love! to go for a ride next week end or even during the week have a nice evening ride in the dry.
So if you guys are, i'm up for a ride as soon as its dry.
No arguments from me - I've just replaced the drivetrain on 2 bikes and not keen to do it again a weekend later.
How about same time next weekend? That would be Sunday 1 November.
Sound alright to you guys?
sounds good
As hawkeye mentioned, the ride is set to happen on Sunday 1 November...I'm keen to try this track out.
Ah... as you discovered, the following week's episode is here:
