Hi, does anyone know how these breaks are compared to the Elixir R and CR models. If its just wait then they seem like good value. I have seen some on ebay for around $180 for a set of front and rears.

I think the main difference is the reach adjustment. The Elixir R have a tool free reach adjustment dial on the front and the 5's a much smaller dial in the same position. You need to stick something like an allen key in to get the leverage to turn it.

Also I think the connection between the caliper and the hose is fixed on the 5s and adjustable on the R and CR.

I have Elixir 5 on my Anthem and they are great breaks, they fell more powerful that the Juicy 5s on my Trance.

The caliper is identical to the elixir R but as nh said the reach adjust needs an allen key to alter it. Given the choice I'd go for the 5s over the R as it's one less thing to break/faff with.
