Scott vs Look
Armed with new funds from cashing in my old mountain bike, I am setting out to purchase a new Hardtail Cross Country racer.
I am looking for opinions from other bikers as to which would be a good choice for my new baby. I am looking for something definately race-worthy, with maximum speed and power transfer. Not looking for an amateur ride or forgiving bike here! In the end, I am looking to tweak the build down to about 8kg in the long run.
At the moment I have it narrowed down to these two pretty things:

There are a few others on my mind, but these two are the stand-outs for the moment.
The Scott in the end will be the lighter bike (sub 1kg Scott frame + lightweight seatpost vs 1.2kg with the Look's uncut seatpost), but the Look is well..... a Look. The cool and unique factor is awsome.
I have heard the negatives about the integrated seatpost on the Look (hard to transport, can only resell to shorter people), but in the end the point of the whole thing is power transfer is it not? Would it be a reasonable trade-off? Or is it simply a gimmick?
Negative on the Scott is that I do not think that this build option has remote lockout for the forks.
As for price, the two bikes are within $100 of each other.
The Scotts are very popular bikes, and they seem to be a proven design. The Look recieves rave reviews, and always gets supurb feedback from riders.
Oh the choice!
Would someone be so kind as to settle this for me? Or recommend another possible option?

Personally I'd go for the Scott purely because I prefer XT/R drivetrains a lot more than Sram/Truvativ, especially the triggers, can't not have rapid fire shifting. XT cranksets tend to be stronger and last longer than Truvativ too.
What shifters did your previous bike? Again it's a very personal choice. I've never seen LOOK bikes either.
No remote popup wouldn't bother me as it's nor hard to reach and easy to turn the adjuster on Fox forks. Plus you can always purchase a remote lock separately. I think 2010 Fox forks will mostly be coming with one too.

I have a Scale 20 and I love it. Scott bikes are also well supported in terms of warranty and local support if you have any problems with the frame cracking (not that I have) but it can happen. Plus the build kit on the Scale is higher-end IMO than the Look.
A lot of the top racers use the Scale's (eg Swisspower and Rockstar racing teams) - probably because they are sponsored by Scott but it still shows that they are serious about supporting / building racing hardtails.
Other bike to consider is the new Cannondale Flash. Its really light. Cannondale hired the carbon frame builder from Scott so its the same guy who built the Scale and Flash frames.
