Good news. 
The doctors are happy with progress on my hand fracture - range of movement is excellent. I may not get back full movement in hyperextension of the pinkie, but that's not a major issue. The swelling around the prosthesis (the Ti insert) may not fully go away for 6-12 months, though.
The best bit: I'm allowed to resume road riding in two weeks. Cross country trail riding is OK in four weeks.

and the pinky be strong enuff to wield said bat

We pulled out a T-ball bat that Josh had never used in a household cleanup last week - d'you reckon it's got potential?

I used to play a lot of softball and baseball in London and used to ride everywhere with my baseball bat attached to the top tube with reusable cable ties.....
Mind you I did get pulled over by the police a few times. They weren't always convinced it was for recreational purposes . . .
