My opinion is this is a blessing in disguise, as we have so much support and backing, I'm sure we will end up with more legalized mountain bike trails on the beaches, soon the kiwis will be flocking to us to ride:)
At the end of the day the powers at be must do what the people want, and we want signposted, safe, sustainable imba designed trails on the beaches, the more the better
Hundreds mobilised, people p1ssed off
Crisis/Opportunity
Someone's doing us a favour
Just gotta keep up the noise
I think we'll come out of this in a better situaton to when we started. Maybe not right away, but the wheels have definitely begun turning.
That people who dont ride bikes really do not like people who do especially in Sydney.
This is why bikes where banned and not walkers.
fallen of their trike's as a children, and from that point forward they said to themselves, "will hate bikes forever and ever and ever"
seriously though, yeah found that a bit, but thats a bit of a generalization, there's plenty of level minded people still out there.
Luckily for us the hardcore environmentalists are just a minority.
are such optimists.
You know me.
It just occurred to me that we should be lobbying for new and additional trails.
Not trying to defend what is ours. We have the right to mountain bike.
What gives those egg heads in the Mayors office the right to tell us we can't ride.
These people are the reason Australia's obesity rate is going through the roof.
The only place they want us to ride is on play station.
You are so right and its good to know that lobbying to legalize current trails and also to add to the "non existent" single trail network is happening right now to council, environmental groups and npws
The more people that help out in practical ways, the better.
Check the advocacy section of this site.
that the none riding public are not so keen on in Sydney - I reckon if they thought that trail closure might push more 'aggravating cyclists' on to the roads they'd be lobbying for trails right alongside us!
