Email response to wet weather
I sent an email a couple weeks back when we had all the wet weather about the fact that the dam wasnt actually closed, finally got a response.
Apparently all that rain, hadn't "adversley affected the track".

I reckon the Rangers didn't even check it. If so it would've been closed for sure. It's been closed after less rain previously.
It was too wet for the ranger to check if the track was too wet....
I just think that it is all too much effort to check the track, put all the signs up and then have to keep checking before taking them all down again. I am not suggesting laziness from anyone, just better things to do with limited time. It seems like everything to do with council's involvement with mtb at Manly Dam is very much on hold until the PoM is completed.
I say they hand over day to day management of the Dam to those that are in the best position to look after it, a group that represents those that use it for bush walking and us!
Far be it from me to suggest laziness.
How long 'til Chris Buckley retires? Can't be too far away, judging by the "don't rock the boat" paradigm that seems to be in place for the last 2-3 years around Manly Dam management (in)activity.
I can't believe that with all the maintenance and reworking that the trail is still not weather proof....
I note there's a reference at the end there to "attention to drainage issues is some areas" being "attended to in the coming weeks".
At best this might mean another maintenance day with calls for rider involvement. At worst, they could just close the most affected bits.
Wonder what they have in mind?
Huh? What maintenance?
'Another'? Eh? There haven't been any for years.
Council have stated that there will not be any in the future either, unless the PoM calls for that.
If someone is going to work on the track in the near future, it can only be contractors employed by the council. Sadly, we all know how well their last efforts went
For the record, when I asked about both the signs and the email list that used to be told when the track was closed/open, was told that they have 'forgotten' how to do this. I'm guessing this means the details on how to mail the list had been lost, and they key to the signage locks also lost.
I'm pretty sure this was the last maintenance day for volunteers to attend http://nobmob.com/node/4511
They then had contractors in who built the treated pine steps at the end , fixed the run down to the creek etc.
... is not consulting us.
...is insulting us
sh#$fight, even I would come down from Newcastle to do a day of trail work if allowed by 'council' to put back in for rides I've had there
